"To the Family and Friends of Darren Howe,

I'm sending this out to let each of you great Americans know how pround and honored I am to have known this fine soldier. I was given the awesome responsibity of being Darren's Platoon Leader for more than 14 months, and in that time period was able to truly witness this man's potential not only as a soldier, but as a person.

While in Iraq Darren was injured and returned to the states to have surgery. When he returned he an I crossed paths in Kuwait, and ended up staying with each other for more than 4 days. All he talked about was how important it was that he be forward with his fellow soldiers, and that he felt he was letting the team down.

This was his nature-a man that believed in being a team player, a loyal countryman, and most of all a dedicated family man.

Nothing can really make up for the lost of people like Darren. Not one day will go by in my life without thinking of him. May God bless each of you during these uncertain times.

Respectfully,

Jimmy"

"Lord, I ask You to bless my
friend who is reading this right now.
Where there is pain, may
they find peace and mercy.

Where there is self-doubt, may
they gain a renewed confidence.
Where there is weariness or exhaustion, give
them understanding, patience, and strength.

Where there is fear, reveal your love,
and offer to them your courage.
Give them greater vision, bless their finances, and raise
up leaders and friends to support and encourage them.

May their spirit always be joyous and their
days rich and full with love and happiness,
And may they always know that they have a friend.

Gone – but not forgotten.
Thank you for sharing your loved one with us,
and for the sacrifice made by you and your family on our behalf.
Proud mom of Lcpl Alex. Currently serving in Iraq"
