"I knew Patrick we were deployed together and spent a few months before going to Iraq in 29 palms. During that time in 29 palms, there was a young Marine who was constantly getting into trouble was made fun of and was denied his weekend liberty. I laughed at the poor Marine and left to go drinking as did most of my friends but not Pat he stayed with the guy and when we came back he had been playing cards and board games with the guy. Patrick sitting down with the guy made all the difference instead of getting into trouble he started squaring himself away and all he needed was a friend.
I still think about him and I remember the picture he was so proud of his son as peter pan and even now it makes me choke up."

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry at times. I understand, in theory only, that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take your families and friends pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"To all who knew Pat and to those who lost their loved ones on that horrific day in April. My thoughts are with you forever and always. Patrick was more then a friend to me. He was like the lil brother I never had. He showed me that no matter what I did or went through in my life I had the strength to move past it. Patrick and I had an apartment together and he was one of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As the anniversary of our loss aproaches I find myself holding back tears. For the sole fact that he was truely my hero. There are no words that I can say to let the world know how much he sacrificed to honor his wife, child and his family. He gave us all hope knowing that such a strong and caring man was fighting for our childrens future. How, even with the knowlege of what he was about to face he still marched on without deterring from one of the greatest obstacles humanity will ever face in our lifetime. My love and respect for him will never wither away, instead it will grow stronger with every breathe I ever take. In every moment I think of my son. How I know that he sacrificed his life to ensure our childrens safety. To his wife and son; my prayers will always be with you. To his parents; I wish I could tell you how much knowing your son has made me a better man. I will always hold all of you in my thoughts and memories. Until the day I get the honor to thank him for myself. To his brother and sisters; I will always be here for you the way that he was always there for me, I will love him forever. I'd like to add, that the last time I saw Patrick alive he had confided in a mutual friend and I. That he had a bad feeling of what was to come. And, even with his gut instinct expecting the worst, he stood tall and still deployed to fight for this country and it's freedon. Which alone makes him the bravest man, friend, and soldier I'll ever know."
