"I'm still mourning your loss after all these years. I am silently suffering cannot get you off my mind. Your braveness and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Im the soldier that inprocessed you when you were medivac to the combat support hospital. I can't get over what I witness the doctors worked long and hard. I knew you were gone when his head was hung and fist tightly close. I was dazed didn't know what to make of it you were so young life really just beginning. It's been rough! It seems like yesterday that this happened. I've been coping with the loss but never forgetting it. I pray God heals me I shall see you in heaven someday. You were brave it's been rough for me here on earth just trying to deal with your loss as well as many others that came thru on my shift. My thoughts and prayers will continue to go out to your parents. Rest in love"

"It's Memorial Day 2015, over a decade has passed and we shall not forget! I never met Ervin, but feel like he has been a part of my family for over a decade now. I joined the Army in 2001 and we share a similar background and past, so his passing was a bit personal to me. I will always remember you my brother in arms!

"Four years later and it seems like yesterday my dear friend.Yes he did talk about buying a new car when he made it back from the war,the car was going to be a chrysler crossfire Ervin always had a smile I'm so hurt by all the friends I lost to this war,he will always be in my memories I will tell my kids of his heroic service to all of the world not just america.I was his bradley mechanic and he would always give a helping hand to anyone in need.I have to say Ervin was one of a few great people and he should never be forgitten, ever.I want ervin's family to know that myself and Ervin's maintenance team wept with the pain of knowing we lost a dear friend,He always had a smile on his face always and I know this because I served with him daily.I've lost many friends to this war and it's hard to relive the memories knowing I will never see them again, but I will always speak of their great deeds, until we meet again my friend your family should know your were a man amongst men and your legacy will live through me.My name is Michael Hattaway and I just wanted to speak of my friend,a true HERO ERVIN DERVISHI may you rest in peace."

"Vinni, It's utterly amazing that I even ended up joining the United States Army. I signed up to be a Combat Medic, ensuring that I would be helping bring sons and daughters back from the war alive. Alas I found out I would be stationed at Fort Hood. It's amazing how things work out. Unfortunately I couldn't complete my training. The Army diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I miss you every day. You will always be remembered. Mark my words Vinni if I ever have a son your name will be honored. I love you and always have. I will see you again someday. Until then please keep watch over the ones still here. You are truly missed."

"I first met him on guard duty in Kuwait, awaiting the push over the border, he was in my platoon. He said his plans for the future were indeed being with law enforcement. His best friend was Pvt. Flannagan, and those two could not be seperated, that is until Dervishi was moved to later in the year to HQ Plt. (which is a testament to his quality). The last time I spoke to Dervishi he was bubbling with enthuthiasm about what we were doing and he was a definite asset to our Company of Infantrymen. He was not a hardended individual, but rather a jolly young man ready to take on any challenge laid before him. He was shot in the back by cowards using less than honarable techniques, and he will be dearly missed by a former platoon mate. He will be forever missed."

"I had the honor to go to basic training with Dervishi. We were bunk neighbors so we got to know one another very well. We had a deal where I would shine his boots every night if he would make my bunk every morning. I too served in Iraq, with the 101st Airborne Division. I often wondered about him but did not find out about Dervishi until the following summer after we returned from Iraq (Summer '04). I was very saddened and still am. I am out of the Army now but I still wear a KIA bracelet in honor of my friend. My condolences to his family. He always loved talking about you and had some good stories about him and his brothers. He will always be a hero."

"I knew Ervin somewhat well. We were in the same basic training platoon at Ft. Benning, GA. For the 4 months that I lived and trained with Ervin, I learned much about him and how hard is life was up to that point. Dervishi worked his hardest to be the best soldier he could be. I was hoping that one day I might have been able to meet up with Ervin again and trade war stories, but that will never be."
Spc. Bramlett, Damian of San Ramon, CA

"Hello,
I would like to let the family of Pfc Ervin Dervishi know that I wear a Hero bracelet every day. I ordered one from www.herobracelets.org and the random bracelet I received bears the following information: Pfc Ervin Dervishi, Fort Worth, TX - Army - 1/24/04. I wear this bracelet proudly everyday to honor him. I went on the web to learn what I could about him and when people ask me about my bracelet, I share with them what I know about this brave young man who made the ultimate sacrifice. I will continue to honor him along with all the fallen all the days of my life. My prayers are with him and his family."

"I am the flight medic that picked Ervin up on that faithful night. I was very proud of the fight that he put up to pull through to make it off of my helicopter. I lost him, but got him back before we landed. I was very happy and hopeful that he would make it. I was very disappointed that he passed later during surgery. To the family and friends, I say I am deeply sorry. If you ever need anything from me please let me know. It was truely my honor to treat this soldier."
