"Brother you are gone but never forgotten. The last words I said to you before your mission as you asked for a "dip" was hell no buy your own ya mooch, I'm gonna start claiming you as a dependent! I miss you brother and wish I wouldn't have said what I said. 16 years and I still haven't forgiven myself. I am sorry brother, know that I still miss you. SFC Mayo (then SSG)"

"Kevin was a great guy! He had just married and adopted the two children. He talked all the time about those kids and treated them as if they were his own. Kevin and I worked together in Albany and Lebanon. I'd go down to Albany first thing in the morning and meet Kevin and ride with him on the Milk Truck and get new customers for him. Everyone liked him. He truly believed in what he was doing in the National Guard and was ready to give his life for his country. I never understood the Iraq war and didn't like it but Kevin believed in what he was doing and that was the important thing. He made a difference with every person he met and the things he did. R.I.P."

"Ten years? Time flies as a civilian. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. There is a lot I'd like to say but I know God hears my words and can pass on any my thoughts and prayers. I'm looking forward to chatting with you at that chow hall in the sky when I get there. Save me a slice of that freezer burnt cheese cake and some shelf stable milk. And can you please help God keep an eye on some of the guys? They need it, we all need it. Thanks and God Bless"
SGT Matt Henry of Gresham, OR

"I did not know Kevin personally, but when I heard that a brother soldier died I attended his funeral to honor his memory. I've been retired from the Army for 23 years, I know what sacrifices soldiers make. However a life is the ultimate and you are a true HERO. To his family may God give you peace, and never forget what Kevin did for all of us."
Nick Bruno US Army Retired of Albany, Oregon

"Kevin, Your heroics will never be forgotten. You will always live on in the hearts and memories of those you left behind. I know how much your death devastated my son, who was the youngest soldier in G-Troop. He told me you always went out of your way to look out for him and kept him close by and safe. As a mother I am eternally grateful. I wish you were here because he has had a really hard time with losing you that day and I know how much they all miss you and wish you made it back home to your family. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family on this day. RIP SSGT Kevin D Davis. You will never be forgotten."

"I love my country. After 9/11 sadly the president didn't ask us to do much, those of us who don't serve, so I decided to clean the road that I live on. Seems dumb but it's something I can do. And I've flown the flag proudly since 1/20/08. Recently a sign went up on the road in honor of Kevin. Now I have someone to think about as I clean the road of garbage and take my daily walk/run. I never knew Kevin but oddly he lives on now with me too. Peace to all who loved this man."
Michael of Beavercreek

"Kevin Davis was my high school friend. He was lovely. My last memory of him was at our 20th high school reunion, his arms outstretched in a big huge, sweet smile, a little less curly hair up top. His was the saddest funeral I've ever attended, but it was so fitting to honor him in such a way. To his children: your dad was a man of honor and courage. He was hardworking and honest. Carry his love and strength with you as you venture into our beautiful world he helped to keep safe for you."
Susan South Brennan of Albany, Oregon

"Kevin, I can't thank you enough for looking out for my son Nick and keeping him safe. I like to think your still looking out for him and the others. I know my son lost a part of himself that day they lost you. I know how much you've been missed by all! My youngest son just went active army. I can only hope he gets someone even half as good, to mentor him and look out for him, like u did for my son Spc. Nick freeman.

"There are no words I can write to describe the emptiness that was left behind when my brother left this world and walked through the gates of heaven.

I rejoice knowing that I will see you again Kevin, but your presence here is so very much missed. Your nephew is growing up so very fast and still talks about how much he loves his Uncle Kevin and wants to be like you so much. Mom and I were shocked when we got his soccer pictures back and realized that Kaellin even looks like you. He has that same goofy smile that you had. You are his hero and I couldn't have chosen a better role model for him.

I dedicate this Veteran's Day to you.

I love and miss you bro."

"Kevin,
Hey bro. We're still here and I'm still in the Army. I'm a Sgt. now and took a job in the Military Funeral Honors. Not a service goes by I don't think of you and that breakfast we shared that fatefull day so far away...
Miss you man"
Sgt. Dave Evans of Redmond, Oregon

"I won't forget the night i stayed up talking to SGT Davis. Till midnight, and was I whipped! Man am I glad I did. Soon after that - a few short days - and he departed to be with Christ Jesus face to face. As sad as I was to see him go, and as sorrowful I was and still am with regard to his family, church family, and military family, his presence in Glory helps me look forward to being there myself. Christ Jesus, please pray to the Father for me to become more like You, for my stress fracture to get better, and tell Kevin that ministering to him was one of the highlights of a deployment that benefitted me greatly. If I ever put a hero in a novel, he'd definitely have allot of Kevin's characteristics - good natured, hard working, sacrificial, and a kind hearted soul - like the Father made Kevin to be."
Alec of Lookout Mountain, Georgia

As a classmate of Kevin from West Albany High (1982), I remember a very strong, competitive and honorable person who went on to give us the ultimate sacrafice protecting our freedom. Although I do not know him as a close friend, his memory will be with me forever.

Thanks Kevin. I am sure your family is very proud."

"So, who would've thought this kid that I saw running around in the school halls..prankster, popular, good looking, all around nice guy year after year would grow up to be someone with the title of "HERO". I have so much sorrow for you Robbin and the kids, but I know that you will go on to build happy and fulfilling lives because that's what Kevin would want you to do. I am very thankful and proud to call Kevin my classmate and friend, but now an.... American Hero. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us. My family and I are very greatful. God Bless you all.
