"My very first mission to Iraq during OIF was a "repat," a repatriation mission--for Danny. Danny gave his all for his country and for the Iraqi people. It was my heartbreaking privilege to render final honors as my crew and I loaded him into the back of our C-130. It was our solemn honor to carry him out of the combat zone on the first leg of a long flight back home to his family. Thank you, Danny, for your sacrifice. I, for one, will never forget."
Major Jaska Cason, USAF

"Danny Daniels was a cousin that I never had the privilege of knowing because the last time I saw his great grandfather Charlie Daniels I myself was only about 14yrs old, and Danny hadn't been born then. I think about you and thank you for your service to our country...may your heroism and willingness to sacrifice your life for all Americans never go unnoticed. Rest in Peace."
Debbie Craft Smith of La Crosse, VA

"Bubby was an angel he wore his boots and gun with pride. He was so very happy to defend all of our rights as Americans. Sometimes though god calls his angels home early, and we feel that it is so unfair. I know that he is with Aunt Barb, and that one day they will greet me with a smile, I miss them wish that I could see them but I know they are still with all of us, they watch over us everyday. Bubby will be missed by so many, It is now 2012 and I still wonder what his children would have looked like and just be able to see his happy face, But then I remember that god has a purpose for everything that he does and I am not so sad. THANK GOD FOR OUR SERVICEMEN!!"

"Danny to this day I think of you and remember all the great times we had in High School together. You was a great friend, one of the best friends I had. I can remember the morning I stood in my living room and was listening to the news about your passing. I remember holding my breath as the tears ran, I didn't want to believe you was really gone! I went to your parents house and took them flowers & told your mom how sorry I was... boy that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do but the memory of you will live on forever and not even time can take that away not even after many years of you being gone! Miss you dearly....."

"For Danny's parents,
I was on the same mission as Daniels the day he died. I had been the gunner for the lead truck all day, for 6 or 8 hours. Our platoons split up and it was then that Daniels took lead. Daniels' truck was hit and he was killed less than a minute after we split.
When I got back to Germany, I was blessed with a son, but he died shortly after he was born. It is always on this day, my son's birthday, that I think of your family the most. God bless and keep you, and I hope that Danny is watching out for Alan Neil. I pray that some day I can thank him for giving me the life I have now, and for taking care of my son in Heaven."
Donald Breeding of Pearland, TX

"Danny,

Five years have passed since the day you left us, and I don't think a day has gone by that anyone of us feel the lose in our lives.

You were an inspiration to us all: a dedicated soldier, a wonderful friend, and an even better man. I'm proud to have known and to have served with you.

You are greatly missed, Bubby."
James Strom of Balad, Iraq

"It's about to be 5 years since you passed. I could still remember when you came back from your 4 day pass from Qatar. We picked you up and you stayed with us (at the PSD house)until the company sent a convoy to pick you up. I remember you telling me how much fun you had and that you really needed the break. That was the last time that I saw you. You were one of the first people that I met when I got to Germany. We deployed to Kosovo together. When we were there we came out on the camp's newspaper and people made fun of our names because our first names matched our last names! Too many memories. Around this time I can't seem to hold myself together. My friend I will never forget you."
Martin Martinez of California

"I still would like to thank everyone for all your blessings for our family's. Bubby was a great soldier as well as a nephew. He is missed so much, but I know he is gone home to be with his mommy. I miss you both each and everyday. God bless him for being so brave for all of us."

"To the family of Spc Daniels, A true American Hero was lost that day. It will be a day I never forget. My convoy was on the same mission with his convoy. I was the lead truck with his team and the other first platoon trucks following our convoy. After about 6 hours of me being in the lead we decided to split the convoy and head different directions and not even a minute after I turned off and there convoy kept going they were hit. I always think that that should have been my truck that would have been hit and I dream and run through my head everyday that something different could have been done. Just know that you will always be remembered and will always be in my heart. I will see you again one day brother!"

"My heart goes out to Danny's family. I know the fear of having a loved one in harms way, my little brother is currently in Iraq, and will be there for 18 more months. I was in Glen Alum for the first time yesterday, 12/29/05. It is a beautiful place. It reminds me of my old home of Grayson Ky."
Jack Smith of Atlanta, Georgia

"Daniels was the closest thing to a brother I have ever had. Back in Dec. '02 when I arrived to the 630th he imidiatelly took me under his wing. he showed me the ropes of being an MP. I will always remember those great times we had downtown on the weekends, and all the fun times we had trainning in the field, doing everything we could to drive SGT Stewart crazy. I couldn't have asked for a better friend, mentore, or gunner. I was Danny's driver in iraq. July 20th runs threw my head everyday as if it had just happened yesterday. I know that there was nothing that I could have done to change the outcome of the event, but I still feel guilty for surviving the attack. I thank God that I had the honnor of knowing him. Danny will forever be in my heart and mind.

To Daniels Family,
I was Danny's driver, I am so deeply sorry for your lose. He was the greatest man and soldier that i have ever known. He was extreamly knowledgable in all the areas of his job. He may have only been a gunner in the eyes of the military, but i know i speak for everyone who worked with him in iraq when i say that he was a great leader. he was always there to talk to or if you had a question about something, i remember several times when our commander and 1st seargant pulled him asside because they needed help with a weapon. Danny was the ultimate go-to-guy. Danny left something special in the life of everyone who knew him. He will forever be remembered and loved.

Daniels, you will always be my hero. i miss you. thank you for all you have done for me. love you bro."

"As a former member of the 793D myself, I send out this MP Prayer with a special care. "SPARTANS!"

Military Police Corps Regimental Prayer
By Chaplain Michael Yarman

Heavenly Father - We approach You today because You have called us to be a people of prayer.

We praise You because You are our Creator, our Redeemer and our Provider.

We acknowledge our great need for You as we fulfill our mission as soldiers.

We have been called to serve our nation as Military Police and we are proud of the honored heritage of the Regiment and our motto: Of the Troops and For the Troops.

Whether we are fighting an enemy, securing as area, patrolling the streets, or helping someone in distress, help us, O Lord, to always be men and women of integrity who can be counted on to do the right thing.

Give us the strength to stand for what is right and to oppose those who would do harm to our nation and the people we serve.

May we always be truthful in Word, Deed and Signature, and bring honor through our service to the memory of those in the Regiment who gave the supreme sacrifice for their country.

Guide us now, Father, by giving us wisdom and knowledge from on high, that as Military Police we will always be prepared to Assist, Protect and Defend."
CPT Glidewell

"I was in basic training with Danny, but in a seperate company in Ft. Leonardwood, and we both ended up in Germany together and in the same company.Danny was probably one of the best people i have known. He was outgoing and a great man and soldier. I am a few years older than him, but no matter when i had a problem or was feeling down he was always there for me.He never judged me or put me down but was my friend, more like a brother to me.We were inseperable most of the time, and he always made me feel good about myself despite all i had going on.I am sorry i didnt have more time to spend with him, and i am sorry for your loss. I to feel like i am missing a part of my own family,it is though a piece of my heart is now missing. He will be greatly missed and I know that we will see each other again in heaven. I love you and god bless you."
PFC Janet (Sitzes) Moody of Texarkana, Texas

"To the family and friends of Danny B Daniels II, please accept my most heartfelt condolences. Since I was discharged from the 793rd MPs in Bamberg in 1979, I have sometimes searched for information on what is happening with the unit, and I have read about Danny. It is as if a family member I have not known, has departed.

I have gone on to a successful law enforcement career, as well as my son also, and I know that any day my own son could fall in the line of duty. I am now behind a desk at my age, but he is still in the front line, as was Danny. My blessings to you. I know it is no consolation, but I feel honored by your son's call of duty. Please accept the sympathies of a fellow MP, a partner in law enforcement, and a mother of a son holding the line. As long as there are those who are willing to stand at the front line and protect others, we will suffer their sacrifices, and honor their memories."
LT J R Rutecki of Lancaster, Pennsylvania
