I went to boot camp and SOI with Lewis and I would like to say that he was one of my closest friends during that time. I'll never forget him and the friendship that we shared. He was truly a good person and Marine. I learned of his passing while I was deployed to Afghanistan, and it just saddened me that he was taken from this world so suddenly. God Bless you and your family and Rest in peace brother, I know we will see each other again in glory."

I was in Lewis' boot camp Plt 10-1818 A. Co. I remember him being a house mouse, a kid full of character always happy. We had fun during that mayhem and during SOI Pendleton after boot leave. I was in Japan when I heard of his death which brought me to tears, still feel it now. Jordon if you're reading this send me an email semperloc@gmail.com

"To say that i served with lewis would be an injustice to him. I always looked at him as a little brothe who would out live me, I was in iraq not even 20 metric meters from the caat III outpost, the convoy that they went on i hugged lewis like i always did before and i will cherrish that day until god calls me. For that is the moment that I truly felt god's presents. God bless you and I love and miss you Lewis Calapini USMC"

"Though I have been silent far too long, the memory of Lewis will always be with me. I can only pray for the forgiveness of his friends and family. Lewis was one of the best Marines I ever served with, and I hope other commanders have the priviledge of such a person in their ranks.

"To the family of Marine Pvt Calapini,
On Memorial Day 2007 our church planted a field of flags with one flag for every fallen service member in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The thousands of flags were quite a sight. On July 4th we were invited to take a flag and commit to remember the family of that warrior in prayer. I took Private Calapini's flag and have been diligent to pray for your family in the intervening days.
Thank you for your precious son. Your loss cannot be assuaged or compensated for but I hope that you can stand tall in proud memory. I believe in what your son was doing and wish I could have been alongside him. A grateful American wishes to express feeble thanks for a job well done."
