"I’ve been thinking about you all day bro. It was so fitting to have the Miami-FSU game on Veteran’s Day this year. Your boys weren’t able to get the W but I told some friends and family about you during the game. I miss the hell out of you. The years go by but the memories never fade. Love you brother."
Ryan Harrison of Autryville, NC

"I haven’t written on any boards in a long time. Today has been especially difficult for me. It’s been 17 years and although time has healed the wound it still feels fresh at times. We shared so much together in those 20 years and I’m grateful for that. I love you brother.

To Jacob,

Thank you for the kind words. I remember you and always had a lot of respect for your family. Andrew did too. It looks like you grew up to be a respectful young man. Tell your family Ryan said hello."
Ryan Harrison of Longwood, FL

"Andrew, I just came across this beautiful message board after years and years of wishing you were still around with us. You changed my family in so many ways. We miss you, and i hope your mother is still doing well. Grandma talks to her from time to time and we still reminisce about you. So proud that you were apart of our family and our lives. Your memory obviously lives on in so many peoples hearts and that brings me great joy. I hope you're looking down and reading this with a smile. Thank you for making the greatest sacrifice for our freedom and know we are still here today defending it. From your nephew - Jacob Gray 9/21/2021"

"Andrew I miss you buddy. I still have my Grandfathers Flag you carried the day you passed. I found it right where you left if behind the seat of the truck that you were A driving. I have started telling this story to people as the flag has gone back overseas on 4 additional deployments making 5 total. 4 to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan. The flag hung up at Combat Outposts for the Marines to remember what they were fighting for. I know you are a Patriot and still remember you coming to me the night before the invasion to ask me to carry the Flag. I knew you would take care of it so I had no reservations and the fact that I respected you dearly. Happy Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day to you and your family. I appreciate your sacrifice so much. I am living my one life I have and am earning it every day for what you did for me. Thanks for always pulling me aside and breathing life into me as a young leader. You weren't even in my squad and you made the time to pull me aside. I will never forget your leadership to me. S/F! See you when I see you."

"Cpl Bowling....man how long has it been? Its funny that earlier today i was cleaning out my closet when i found an old memory stick of photos i havent seen in a long time. The first pic of course is of you and arazate in front of a ANP car, then of the whole squad on top of the ANP car, except for me I was taking the pic. But anyways once I saw them, old memories came rushing back of all of third platoon. I miss you after all these years, and watch over your brothers."

"Cpl Theodore A. Bowling was 1 of 7 U.S.Marines of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment (3/1) KIA in the battle for Fallujah,Iraq in Nov 2004. The bravery & courage of these Marines is well documented in the book entitled "We Were One" written by Patrick K. O'Donnell. It's recommended this book be read by all Americans to get a true feeling of what these Marines encountered in this battle. Thank YOU, Theodore, for YOUR service & sacrifice to our great country."
Anonymous Veteran of Melrose Park, Illinois

"my name is nicholas gillen im a PFC in the marine corps

during boot camp our sr drill instructor gave us printouts with the information of fallen marines and told us that this was our marine the marine who's place we would be taking. we were told to memorize these marines and the short bio we were given about them and i was glad to see the same thing word for word when i googled my marine

cpl Theodore a bowling

just the thought of having to satisfy these marines gave us the motivation to make it through boot camp, and even though I've been off the island for over 4 months and the paper is long gone i still think of this marine from time to time and it keeps me going. so know your marine has done more for me in death than almost another marine I've met in my military career."
PFC Gillen of Fort meade,md

"Bowling, you were the man. I only knew you for a short while, but you took this pogue under your wing and kept me alive in Fallujah. You didn't have to be there with us, but your were. I'll never forget that you gave your life for us, even this sorry combat correspondent. Rest easy Marauder, you brought all of us home brother. To your family, I hope they realize that the life that was in you lives on in the rest of us. I hope that we do you honor with our lives."
Sgt. Nathan LaForte of Waukegan, Illinois

"I am doing a portrait of Theodore Bowling for an art exhibit called 'Faces of the Fallen'. I read his story, and about how he died, and now am in the process of drawing him on a small canvas. This project has made me want to meet Theodore, talk to him, and see what he looks like in real life. I feel like, even though I never met him, I know him some how. He looks like he was a really nice guy. My heart goes out to those of you who knew him in real life, and look at his picture now and miss him."
C. Zimmerman of Sonoma, CA

"To the Bowling family,
I only knew your son for 1 day. I met him in Dover AFB where I was asked to take him to his mother. This was my first escort and he has stuck with me ever since. Every moment on that flight I tried to imagine what it was like on the other side. I wonder if I were there would this have been the outcome. I know we had other Marines by his side looking out for him the same way I would have. I can't sit here and say I knew what type of Marine he was or what his daily routine was, but I can say he was a hero. Cpl Bowling was a man full of courage and honor. He gave his life for us even if we dont know if it was for the right reasons. No matter what he and his mother will always be in my heart. IF you ever need anything dont be afraid to ever drop me a line mom. He was a brother and we all miss him. God bless you and your family. mmgoday@adelphia.net"
