"You were in my thoughts this Memorial Day in 2024."
Wil T. of Vancouver, WA

"“K.I.N.G.D.O.G. To the S. Kingdogs you know we’re the best, terror dome is the the place, Topguns beat your, face got your drill Sargent mad, his platoon is a disgrace”. Lol

Bellard & I were in the same Platoon in basic training(Kingdogs) at Ft. Sill, OK. This is only part of a rhyme that I can remember after 20yrs, that Bellard created for our platoon. We sang it loud and proud. It pissed off Drill Sargents from the other platoons & made their troops wish they were part of our platoon. We’d always get “smoked” by them after singing it, & it made us proud. It was a form of rebellion & pride in our eyes.
We didn’t stay in contact after basic training, & only learned of his passing after leaving the service. After 20yrs many memories have been lost. But I still remember how much joy he brought to people with his talent of writing. How witty he was with a comeback when joking around. Also the day we got to wear our class A uniforms, he walked around like a peacock, swearing that he was the best looking, as we all did. You could tell he was extremely proud of his accomplishments."
Joe Cruz III of Lansing, Michigan

"Always in my thoughts Wil. I look forward to seeing you again one day. Today, Memorial Day 2023, we will recognize you and celebrate your life at our family BBQ."

And right now I'm planning my wedding I can only think of how much I miss you. Bishop is so tall he is taller than you Wilfred Jr. is not as tall right now but he looks identical to you. I remember the last call you made home and you asked me to help her with your boys and just wanted you to know Im doing what you asked. You would be so proud. I love you and miss you greatly."

"We are always thinking of you Wil. I knew when God had you and your mom stay next to us for a reason. You were more of a brother to me than a friend. Every year around this time you are always on my mind, but for some reason this year you stayed on my mind. Maybe its a sign that you are watching over your sis lol... Man i how i wish you were able to meet my sons. Nate is a character and Jeremiah is a spoiled momas boy (like you were) lol.. I'm sure Bishop is taller than me now last i seen him he was in his walker lol.. which was also the last time i seen you. Only God knows how getting that phone call from Danielle that morning i felt. I'm beyond sorry for not staying and kicking it. I cry each time i think of it. Not only do i think of you on Veterans and Memorial Day but all the time. I will never forget you Wil NEVER! God placed us in each others life for a reason and I am forever grateful. Thanks a million times for fighting for us.#RIP ArmyPFC Wil I Love You"

"To WILL

who's watching your back.

I am a smalll precious child,
my dad's been send to fight,,,
The only place I'll see his face,
is in my dreams at night.
He will be gone too many days
For my young mind to keep track,
I may be sad, but I am proud.
My daddy's got your back.

I am a caring mother,
My son may go to war...
My mind is filled with worries
that I have never known before
Eeveryday I try to keep
my thoughts from turning black,
I may be scared, but I am proud.
My son has got your back.

I am a strong and loving wife,
with a husband soon to go,
There are times I'm terrified,
in a way most will never know,
I bite my lip, and force a smile
as I watch my husband pack...
My heart may break, but I am proud.
My husbands got your back...

I am a Soldier, serving proudly, standing tall,
I fight for freedom, yours and mine by aswering this call,
I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks,
Say a prayer that I'll come home, It's me who's got your back.

WILL I read this in my office all the time and I did pray but it wasn't god plan for me as a mom to get you back. It was you who had everyone's back."
Janet Bellard Brooks of Lake Charles, La.

She sits in her "Uncle Will" corner and just talks to u. She tells me and her daddy that she's gonna tell her Uncle Will on us. LOL! It always brings a tear to my eye. Even though she's only 2 she is very much intelligent like her godfather/ uncle Will! Of course when Fat boi gets older, he'll know u too. Your picture is hanging up in my living room to remind me of the promise u made to me, to always be there for me and watch over me! I still can't believe that u r gone. After 3 years, it still hasn't all da way dawned on me. I'm still half waitin for Jatorrio to call and say it was a big misunderstanding or a joke. Wishful thinkin, huh? I talked to your aunt when i went to hinesville, and even she remembers me. But i guess that's all i can do is talk! Anyway just know that i love u and miss u dearly! "It has taken me some time to think of what I could say to remember my brother. I may only speak from my heart which continues to ache from memories and thoughts of the past. From the smiles to the tears, we were always a family even through the distance in miles. Within the last year I have done a lot of soul searching to attempt to understand myself and the happenings of our late brother. I found that we each must all make the best of the days a head, share love and hope to everyone we connect with. Learn from our mistakes and attempt not to remake them. As a family we support one another through this time. We shall always remember Will as our brother, a husband, a father, a friend, and our own personal hero. To everyone who had express their thoughts and sympathy, my family and I thank you, you may not realize how much your thoughts mean to us. To everyone that has known Will, he had touched our lives in different ways and we each remember something different of who he was. But one thing we all remember is his smile, he never ceased to smile and keep an upbeat attitude during trying times. We shall never forget his name or memory. To my family, both immediate and extended, thank you for all of your support with this page and Will's memory. Will's spirit is always around us, if you look closely you'll know.

With all of my heart,"
Jasmine Bellard of San Diego, CA & NYC, NY

"To PFC Bellard's family --
I live in Dedham, MA, a small town adjacent to Boston. Every year we have a 6.2 mile road race, called the James Joyce Ramble, that draws a few thousand runners from all over the country. This year, each runner wore a number with the name of a soldier who died in Iraq. I had the honor of wearing No. 1002 in memory of Wilfred D. Bellard. I just want you to know that Wilfred and all the other soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us are remembered and honored -- here in Dedham, MA and thousands of other towns and cities across the country."

"Dear Bellard family,

I wanted to let you know I lit a candle 07/06/04 in memory of Wilfred. I attended a vigil in remembrance of US soldiers who have died in Iraq---there were 865 pairs of army boots displayed, each one with the name, rank, age, home state, and date of death of someone who died there. I read Wilfred's name on the pair of boots where I set my candle, and said a prayer for him and for you. My heart aches for Wilfred, for his family, and for all those who have been killed in this war. May you know peace, and may our world know peace, soon."

"In Loving Memory..Its been a year..

At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
Rest in Peace Dear Soldier!! We will NEVER FORGET!"
