"I served with "Poppy" at Shindand. He was a fine man and an outstanding soldier. I will always remember seeing him working out at the gym putting many younger guys to shame. " VIA CON DIOS POPPY ". My prayers will continue to go out to his family."
Rich Woods of Lacey Washington

"Poppy was one of those guys that once you meet him, you never forget him. Hard like woodpecker lips, doing PT in his 40s that would put a 20 year old in a coma. I jumped with him many times as a parachute demonstrator, and was honored to call him a teammate and friend. To this day I can’t think of the guy with out feeling a deep since of loss. My heart goes out to his beautiful wife and daughter. They were his world and loved them dearly. Blue Skies, and fly free Poppy. We will miss you."

Joseo Amador, Chief Warrant Officer. U.S. Army (Ret) of San Antonio, Texas

"Pedro was one of the finest men I have ever met. I have the deepest admiration and respect for him. I had the sincere pleasure to have Pedro on my team while he was in 3rd SFG. He embodied everything that is 'Special Forces' and he will be missed by his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.

To Pedro's wife and daughter, my sincere condolences. I pray you find peace. You have all paid the ultimate sacrifice so that others may enjoy freedom. I will never forget Pedro's warm smile and magnetic personality."
Rone Reed of Cincinnati, OH

"My dad worked with Pedro briefly in the area of Shindand. Pedro was doing some minor repairs to a HMMWV and my dad introduced himself and offered to help. They talked for awhile and afterward went over to the housing and had some coffee. Funny story; every soldier had an inscription on their personal door in Farsi, Dari or Arabic. Pedro's door stated, "Pedro Keer Deraz" in Farsi. To make it appropriate, "Deraz" translates to 'long', and "Keer" ... well, use your imagination. Pedro was described as very kind, funny, and very intelligent. Coming from my dad who does not give praise easily, I was impressed. I could sense sadness when he told us this story; when he learned of what happened to SFC Munoz a short time after their meeting. I'm going to always remember that story."
