"Dear family of Jefferson Davis,
JD was like a big brother to us. He was one of the few guys I knew that actually cared about us enough to spend the extra time making sure we received quality leadership and training. When I heard about his passing, I wondered why it had to be him.
I think about him throughout the year and especially every Veteran's day. I hug my kids a little harder, hold them a little longer because I know he can't anymore. He was one of the best men I ever knew. If I could be a fraction of the man he was, the world will be a better place."

"To the family and loved ones of MSG Jefferson Davis:
Please know that MSG Jefferson Davis was remembered and honored at an event in Northport, NY (Long Island). Today was the 8th annual "I Did the Grid" Run/Walk. Each runner had the names of 4 fallen soldiers on their running bib, that died while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. MSG Jefferson Davis was one of the heroes on my running bib and at the end of the 4 mile run I had the honor of ringing a bell in his memory.
I wanted you to know that MSG Jefferson Davis and all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice continue to be remembered and honored at this event."

"JD was a GREAT father, friend, 18D and Team SGT. As a Soldier he wrote a blank check to the United States Of America for an amount "up to and including his life." Someone else wrote that, I am just quoting it here. It was an Honor to know him. De Oppreso Liber!"

"Jesse, I left a message on the Legacy memorial site for your family and now I'd like to address this one to you. Such a long time has passed since your loved Dad died and you've had to do a lot of growing up without him by your side. It looks like you've grown into a son he would be proud of, and that you're making your way in life. Even after all these years he is still honored and remembered. You have every right to be so proud of your Dad, and we wish you well in your life."

To his family and closets friends there are no words that can comfort you. But as a retiree and have served there know that all of you will remain in my prayers. He will never be forgotten. If you would like to share his life, I would be honored to know more of this distinguished soldier.
