"I want to first send my sympathy to the Holguin Family. Now I remember him as never letting things get to him. I was with him in the first tour to Iraq. He was a real genuine person. I carry a picture of him an the guys in my breast pocket each day. So when I become complacent in my job, I use it to realize just how real it is to be a soldier. Thanks for standing on my heels Bro! R.I.P my brother till we meet again at our final resting spot."

"Hey Holguin, this is Lopez homeboy. I miss you dogg. Remember when we was in Iraq and we was talkin' about visitin' eachother when we got back man? You was gonna drive from Northern Cali and I was gonna drive from Southern Cali. We was supposed to meet up somewhere in the middle. I really wish we could've made that trip man. Well I re-enlisted man. They stationed me at Madigan at Ft. Lewis and then they sent me to Oregon. I think a lot about the good times we had in Kuwait. Like how you was all sore the day after us goin' to the gym. Yeah, you didn't wanna work out anymore after that. And how you use to hook it up with all that Peach Skoal dip. I just wanted to let you know that you ain't been forgotten dogg. I miss you man."

"On Sunday May 27th the First Baptist Church of Orlando held a Memorial Day Service to remember those that gave their life in the service of our country in Iraq. Each member was given a flag with the name of a fallen service member and these flags were planted in a field. These flags will remain until July 4th. If was my honor to have the name of Manuel Holguin. My prayers are with his family today. His service and sacrifice provide my freedom. He is not forgotten."
