"I just had the great pleasure to meet PFC Wood's family at the American Legion yesterday. I never knew Eric but I do know that he was an American Soldier and an Army Medic, that's all I need to know. As an Army Nurse, I've seen how all the care of our soldiers is started by the medics in the field and on the front-line. Army Medics are a special breed. They not only perform all the duties and carry the equipment of an Infantryman, but they also carry their heavy medical equipment. At a moment's notice they have to switch from being a door-kicker into a lifesaver. From the spirit and strength of his family, I know that Eric was one of the best. I will not forget him."
Michael S Fisher, Army Nurse Corps of 5th BDE AMEDD Recruiting, Omaha, NE

"To Eric's Family & Friends:
I also lost my cousin, Tricia Jameson, also a medic from Nebraska, in Iraq on July 14th. She was lost just a few short days after your "Angel". I found a medic's poem that her battalion gave to us:
Combat Medic Prayer

"Oh Lord I ask for the divine strength to meet the demands of my profession. Help me to be the finest medic, both technically and tactifully.
If I am called to the battlefield, give me the courage to conserve our fighting forces by providing medical care to all who are in need.
If I am called to a mission of Peace, give me the strength to lead by caring for those who need my assistance.
Finally, Lord help me to take care of my own spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Teach me to trust in your presence and never failing love."

Both exceeded this prayer beyond words.
They laid down their lives for others-the most brave and honorable means any person can do-know that he is in God's Heaven, now standing guard for a new purposeful duty. Our heart aches with you...God Bless and what an Honor it was to have had such a special person on this Earth..."
Keri Craig of LaVista, Nebraska

"To Eric's Family.
I had the great honor and privelge of going through basic and AIT with ERIC. He was an older soldier like myself and made those experiences much easier. After AIT we both came to Ft. Carson. He went to 3rd ACR and I went to 4th ID. We did not get a chance to hangout here at Carson though as he deployed so quickly. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Woods and their son. I wish I could have met you both. I know ERIC loved you both very much. I miss you WOODS! I know everyone who knew you misses you!!!!"
PFC Rosequist, Karna L. of Fort Carson, CO USA
