"It's kind of ironic really.... I was reading Michael Moore's website (a man I have NO RESPECT for WHATSOEVER) and saw the names of soldiers listed, I randomly grabbed one put it into a google seach found this site and nearly fell fell when I read Oregon ... having moved recently from the Vancouver area and loving Portland's saturday market and other wonderful places... my heart stopped and realized that Christopher .. although not able to do those now I am certain he is in peace standing beside the only being that can make sense of this thing we call life... I Pray for all the friends and family and I stand up, Salute to Christopher and pray to my almighty savior for the day I stand and am able to hug and thank this man for what he did for his country and all of our generations to come. It's not easy walking the narrow road, and being righteous isn't always popular but thankfully a man like this knew how great the cause and how important the fight. God Bless you all, to all friends and family, I send my thankfullness and greatest sympathy."

"Chris, We spent some time together in good 'ol Blackhawk Company 1st BN 23rd Infantry. We also spent some time together as I brought you home to your wonderful Island, I will never forget you or your family for as long as I live. I am sorry I was hurt and could not go with you to the show, but I made sure you returned home with the honor you deserve. I was touched by your family and your people. Cruiz was there and he sure misses you too man, but don't worry someday all of our great company will be standing together on the OBJ together, just make sure you Blick and SSG Bridges pull security until we are all stading there together.

"I want to express my deep condolences to your family for the loss of Christopher. I want also to let you know that Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA coordinated a Run For Freedom to honor the fallen soldiers in the War on Terror. We are running a mile carrying the Flag of the United States of America for every fallen soldier. We are running nearly 700 miles. The mile I ran was for Christopher. After I completed my mile, I put a flag with his name on it in a board at the front of the campus of ODU. I did not know Christopher, but I ran for him, and I am proud of him. God Bless You and God Bless Christopher.

"My name is Cathie Longstreth and I was the grandmother to Duane E. Longstreth, killed in Baghdad on August 7, 2003. I am also a member of the "Bridge People" of Outpost 122. The members of the Bridge Team rally at Outpost 122 (the exit 122 off I 5) every Saturday in an effort to support the troops of Ft. Lewis, McCord AFB and Camp Murray (Washington State National Guard). We have the honor of greeting hundreds of military members and their families every week. The response from the troops is heart warming and welcomed .

I am writing this message to the other families in Washington State that have also lost a family member while serving our country, since September 11, 2001. My family would like to display a picture of the fallen hero, with the name and possibly the date of death, on the bridge while we are rallying. It is intended to honor them for the sacrifice they made but will not be used by us as a personal political statement. We hesitated to replicate the pictures we find on the many web sites without the express permission of the surviving family, as we have had our own experience with the media attempting to use our loss to support their political position.

If you do not object to us using your loved ones picture, please email me with your permission at one of the email addresses below. If you have a special picture that you like us to use please email that as well, otherwise we will be using one of the pictures already posted on the web.
