"You it's been almost 13 years and it still hurts and at times I hate God cause it wasn't me,I just wish I was there to protect you as a big brother is suppose to.Or at least been the one! My life has always been mistake after mistake and you deserved to have a life, family, something we've never really had. But most of all I love you and words can't describe how proud and missed you are, you've gave me strength to try hard and to be the best I can be. Your brother Chad"

"my grandparents fostered Larry for many years and my family is grateful for him and billy to have been in our life. it hit like a heavy brick the night my grandmother recieved the call of his passing. i think that was the first time in my 26 years that i saw her cry. of coarse i was at his wake and Larrys funeral is the only one that i have ever been to. to say that i am so proud of him does not do justice because it goes beyond that. i still talk about him to this day and he will never be forgoten. we love and miss you Larry, you will always be in our hearts."
Desiree' Cherie Tarver Lyon of Franklinton, LA.

TARVER, HE WAS VERY YOUNG BUT LEFT A BIG IMPRESSION ON ME..WHEN HE WAS LITTLE HIS BROTHER BROKE THE BACK GLASS ON MY CAR AT A BALL GAME IN APRIL 1996 LARRY BROUGHT HIM TO ME AND TOLD HIM TO TELL ME WHAT HE HAD DID, THAT MADE ME REALLY PROUD OF HIM, AND ADMIRE HIM..WHEN HE WAS JOINING THE MARINES ONE TIME HE RODE WITH MY BROTHER EDWARD STOGNER, WHO ALSO IS A MARINE AND SERVED IN IRAQ TOO.. LARRY, WAS A GOOD PERSON TO SEE IN MT. HERMON, CAUSE HE MADE ALL OF US LOOK GOOD, ALWAYS WITH A SMILE AND WILLING TO HELP WHERE HE COULD..I WENT TO THE FUNERAL WITH MY DAUGHTERS SHELBY AND KAYLEA, IT WAS REALLY HARD TO BE THERE BUT IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, AND THE LEAST, BECAUSE HE(LARRY) GAVE THE MOST FOR US!!BLESS YOU LARRY AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A PART OF MT.HERMON SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY...GRATEFUL FOR KNOWING A STRONG YOUNG MAN, WHO I KNEW WOULD WALK THE LINE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND FOR FOLLOWING HIS DREAMS..AND TO THE FAMILY, HE WAS ALL THE ABOVE AND MORE NOW HE IS LOOKING ON FROM ABOVE SO MAKE HIM PROUD, TOO..

"To Mrs. Joni and Mr. Mike,
I love Larry with all my heart and he had my prayers for every second he was not home. He taught me so much in the time that I knew him, and something he taught me has made me who I am. If it wasn't for Larry I still wouldn't care to much about school, he showed me to care about myself and that no matter what somebody loves me. He always showed me a kind heart and a friendly smile. Somehow over the course of the time that I knew him he became like a brother to me. My smile is always for him and that will always be. I am so proud of Larry for who he was and what he did. Freedom isn't free and its soldiers like Larry that pay the price. My prayers are with ya'll. I love you.
For Larry: You are a brother to me and my tears are not for the years that I have left without you just for the time I have untill I see you again. I love you with all my heart and for what you did for this country I am proud. Thank you "big brother" I miss you greatly. Untill we meet again:My smile is for you. Walk with God and watch over us with your loving eyes."

"A Fallen Soldier:
In Memory of Lance Cpl. Larry Wells
Written by: Laci Melancon

It seems like just yesterday, that you came into our family,
And joined in as a son, a brother, a friend and whatever else you needed to be.

You ironed your clothes better than any man could,
And spent more time on your hair than most men would.

You loved the color yellow and idolized Superman,
And you were always ready and willing to lend someone your hand.

You did a couragous thing by joining the Marines,
And like with us, you became their brother and friend because that was your routine.

When you went to Iraq, you said you wanted to be the first one in,
And that's what you did to protect your fellow men.

You walked the line of duty and made us very proud,
And you did that with strength, courage, and with no doubt.

And on this day, we will not say goodbye,
As our tears and our memories will keep you alive.

Because our freedom comes at a very high cost,
Because through you protecting our freedom, we have experienced your loss.

And please don't think that your job of protecting us is through,
Because now you are an Angel, and we have and will be blessed by you.

But when our day comes, to meet back up with you,
There will be only one thing to say and do,
That is to let you know how much we are proud of you.

We will never forget you!

For Larry's Brothers and Sisters
We are very sorry for your loss."
