"Hey Mikey, I have found myself thinking about you alot lately. Sadly I have let the years get in the way of communicating and keeping an eye out for your mom. I really need to make sure to give her a call more than I have been. It's the holidays right now, almost Christmas. I can't believe we are about to enter into the year 2015. I wish you were around to ring in the new year with us. When ever I think back on things and my life, the years we were friends always seem to be the ones where I had the most fun. You always kept me smiling. I love how you would keep an eye out on the house everytime you drove by and would stop to check on us when you thought something wasn't quiet right. You were our protective friend then and our protective angel now. I miss you!! Keep smilng.

So today is your birthday. There's barely a day that goes by that I don't think of and miss you, but when it gets to be close to our birthdays, it seems even harder to think of you not being here to celebrate with me. I never think of you as gone, I only think of you as not here. "Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die". I know you are watching over us.

I love and miss you soo much."

"OH Mikey, where to start... I miss you so terribly much, more on some days than others but always everyday you are in my thoughts. It is so hard to think about how life has gone on without you here with us. I have been through some horrible things over the past few years and have learned alot, but one thing I have always known is that you were an angel placed on this earth to help others and effect the lives of everyone you met. And you did that with such ease. I hope to one day have the chance to see your contagious smile and get one of your comforting hugs that I miss so much again. My boys still talk about you and I will never let them forget the man you were, what you did for me personally and the sacrafice you made for the world. God keep an eye on that one because he's a firecracker! I love you dearly!!!"

"Re: SGT Michael A Uvanni

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

"Michael,

I never met you but we chewed the same ground that week of hell when we retook Samarra during Operation Baton Rouge. House to house urban combat isn't what it looked like on TV. I hope you have the peace you deserve. I have heard it said somewhere before and it is true. I am not a hero but I have served with heros. I was 2 blocks from you when the report went out for you. How helpless we all felt. I am truely sorry for your family. Rest in peace brother."
Sgt. Mike (special ops) of new york

"Hello Mike... This is the first time I am speaking to you in a very long time and it is very hard for me to do...but, here goes... I wanted to let you know that I think about you everyday... I think about how things were supposed to be when you came home... I lost all the emails... I am truely sorry but they just disappeared one day... I havent been able to find closure... I got you tattooed on my leg, I look at your pictures all the time... But I cant bring myself to go to the cemetary... I love you with all my heart but something in me cant do it... I did try once though... It was New Years Eve 2005, I has very sick with an ugly flu virus... It was cold and I was thinking about you... I walked in the freezing cold to the cemetary but when I got there I couldnt find you... I havent been back since... Please dont hate me for it... I know you being the man you are will forgive me... I made a collage for you... from all the newspaper articles and pictures... In it I put a letter... The letter that rebroke my heart... I had sent it to you, 2 days before you were tragically taken from us... In it I put a poem I wrote and a picture because you wanted one... It was supposed to help you feel at home... But I got it back... two months later It was in my mail box... with BIG BLACK HEART PIERCING STAMPS SCREAMING RETURN TO SENDER RETURN TO SENDER.... That hurts... And through it all I cry... I love you and you ARE everything to me... you will never leave my heart Mike... I miss you tremendously"

"Hi MIke,

Not sure what to say on here. I do want to thank you and every other soldier that has protected us. I have a hard time with people who don't understand what our soldiers do for us every day. Ya know what I mean. The people who don't stand behind you, but they surly won't stand in front of our troops either. I am sorry you are no longer here. I remember you and Kendra and your love sogga. LOL you two were something else. No denying it you two loved one another. Well again thank you for standing up for our freedom. And for making the biggest sacrafice you could have given. You are a hero."

"Mike, I have lost a lot of friends, that I have served with, in this war, but none have hit so close to home. I know what it is like to be there. You had the heart of a warrior when we played football in High School and I sure it was there in Iraq with you. I see you still call everyone brother. That is one of the things that I remember that you would always do, and it always made me feel you meant it. I know that your solders felt that way too, and feel they lost a brother. You will always be, in my heart and many others, a true hero. I pray for piece for all your family and loved ones. Brother, I hope to see you on the other side."

"Mike,

The last time I saw you was when you drove me up to the ALOC on my way home for leave. I'll never forget the last thing I said to you, which was "Take it easy and watch your back. You'll be fine." I'll never forget the sinking feeling I felt at the airport on my way back when they told me that you had been killed, or the sadness I felt when I got back to the bunker and saw the empty space where your gear had been.

I only knew you for a short time, but it was my honor and my privlige to have served with you. I'll always remember you."
