"Michael it has been five years since you left us. I have never forgotten you after all these years. Watching you grow as a Soldier in Korea and then deploying with you to Iraq was a great experience. I can still remember the day it happened like it was yesterday. I even had a chance to meet your dad when we got back to the states in Fort Carson, CO. You were a Soldier, a 503rd First Rock Soldier. I miss you buddy."

"I served with Smitty there with the "FIRST ROCK" in Ramadi. Theres not a day that has gone by where I dont think of him, and his crazy wild red hair that he refused to cut short like the rest of us. Smith was a good friend, and a greater Soldier. He kept our spirits alive when we were there, always a smile on his face. From your boys Smith, and to your family... Harvey, Rob and Tim will never forget you man. Alot of good times with you, god bless, and see you in the afterlife brother..."

"I don’t believe that we understand all that you gave, or how your sacrifice will affect the future for our sons or daughters. I believe you confronted the evil that has enslaved mankind throughout history, the same evil that many American soldiers have confronted in many battles.

I will teach my son and daughter of your sacrifice and your heroism.
