"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"He's in the sunrise, sunset, the rippling brook, he's the smile on your face and each breath you take, he's the last whisper as you drift off to sleep...he is no longer with you physically but his spirit surrounds every fiber of your being and is in your heart forever...blessings and angel hugs to a all of you...."

"Dear Jennifer, Kelli, and Marissa,
My heart goes out to you on this first Father's Day without Daniel. I read about him in the local paper. He sounded like an amazing man. He was all about God, family and country. His death is a tremendous loss to so many.
A friend of mine, Chris, was killed in Iraq a few years ago. The hardest was the first year. All the first missed events, birthdays, holidays etc. It is still hard to fight the urge to call/email him. No one is on the other end. I still feel the need to try.
The love we had for each other has not died. I still "talk to him". I believe he can hear me, if not, I feel a lot better afterwards. I still see him in my dreams. When days get tough, I remember his hugs and laughter to making light of a bad situation. The Three Stoodges; "here's another fine mess". I still believe that he is still watching my back, as always. I also believe Daniel has your back.
Please reach out to others. You are not alone. Where ever you are in your grieving, you are right on schedule. I wish you and your family healing.

Take care and God bless,"

"Daniel was such a loving father and husband. He will greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

"Dear Jennifer and Daniel's Children:

Michelle Groves told me a few weeks ago about your tragic loss. My heart was broken all over again when I heard about Daniel's death. You see, I also know the pain of losing a loved one to war. My son, Adam Kinser, was killed in Afghanistan on January 29, 2004, just two weeks after he turned 21. He was looking forward to coming home in March to his then 7 months pregnant wife, Tiffany. He was moving his family back to Rio Vista, where he had grown up, because he wanted his kids to have the same carefree childhood that he had. We miss him every day, but our hope is in Christ. We know Adam was a Christian and he is in Heaven. I am convinced that your Daniel is there with him, also. I truly believe in the old saying, "There are no athiests in foxholes" and I know your Daniel is enjoying Heaven with my Adam and we will see them again some day. Hopefully, we will be able to meet someday. I would love to hear more about your husband, who is a hero in every sense of the word.
God bless you and your kids. You are in my prayers."
Terri Kinser of Rio Vista (CA)

"Dear Scheile Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of a great man. While we can not comfort you in person we would like to share a memory (if only in our imagination) of Daniel. We are a group that sends comfort packages to our troops. We understand that Daniel looked forward to our boxes; wondering what he would eat first, if he got the Spongebob Squarepants boxers and what other goodies would appear. That image makes us very happy and grateful that we were able to participate in the life of a man so wonderful.
To honor a hero, patriot a man that knew the value of democracy and freedom; we will continue to send our packages to Daniel's unit. This unit has been hit harder than any other. Daniel will be the heart in each package sent to 1st Sgt. Hall's unit. It is our honor and privlege to have touched his life and to have him touch ours. May God bless you and heal your hearts."
