"I came across this message as I was thinking about Rasheed when my wife and I were talking about thing I expereinced in Iraq. I was Rasheeds supervisor on the team he was on. He was assigned to my team for a special mission. I have a picture that I took of him after I woke him up for what was supposed to be our next mission but what turned out to be the last time he would awaken on this earth. I was also the individual who was holding him and doing everything I could to comfort him in those last seconds. I am in tears as I write this. My birthday is in May, May 25. That Month has brought my feelings to Sahib rather than my Birthday. Specialist Rasheed Sahib will allays be remembered. If anyone ever wants to talk to me I am here. donaldbango@Comcast.net I would be happy to get that picture that I took of him that morning to you."

"I happened to be in the Rosehill cemetery in Linden, NJ, the other day, when I came upon his grave by chance. I did not know him, but to me, the smile on his face seemed to glow, to be warming the cold winter grass. I was moved. My condolences to the family. As a UN peace-keeper deployed overseas, I feel for the families of immigrants like me who have given everything to this country and unfortunately too often still do not receive the respect they deserve for their ultimate gift to this country. My husband did one tour in Iraq. I was lucky that he came back. I feel for those who did not have the opportunity to get their loved ones back. Pray for them."

"This is In Loving Memory of Rasheed Sahib..."
We were never meant to be...
"My First Love"

Is there ever an appropriate time to say goodbye and let you go?

It took me years to even accept your absence in my world and even that is not acceptable. So maybe, by sharing my thoughts and feelings with others will help.

I remember the first time I saw you, June 28, 1999, I was 14 years old, you were 17, and it was the first time I ever experienced love and at first sight at that, lol. I remembered every detail about you on that day, it was on Monday June 28, 1999. And ever since then, I have always been in love with you. We have had some beautiful moments together. On your last visit home, you promised me sooo many things, and most important of all, I asked you to promise me that you will come back to me ... The strong positive man that you were ... You promised and said "Your family can't say no, cuz you'll be old enough in 3 months," and we laughed...
For years, around your birthday and your anniversary date I would be sad, depressed, lonely.

It's been over seven years Rasheed, and My Love for you still has not eased. I still love you like the first day we've met. I still hurt every time I look at your picture. I still see your smiles sometimes when I close my eyes.
No one can ever know how badly you are missed especially to Mom and I.

They say a Mother feels for her children, She still does miss you, and your soul mate feels your pain and seven years have gone without you babe, I never forget... I am not at ease. I can't seem to let you go.

I always see soldiers going away and pray they come back safe to their families, the way I wished you would have come back to us, ... to me.

I can't seem to get over you... I still cry at the thought of what could have been "US".
One day, I'll be strong enough to let you go ...
Until then, You are Not Forgotten and I Will Always Love You Baby. I hope one day, God gives me the strength to move on...
May Your Soul Rest In Peace Rasheed. I Love You Always... Ur goofy Shoma

"I didn't know SPC Sahib, but I was tragically affected by his death. I conducted the Safety Investigation into his death. You should know this was a tragic accident and it was truly an accident. I know the Army may not have told you the whole story, but it was just a tragic accident. From SPC Sahib's tragic death came a much higher sense of safety within Iraq. I criticized all levels of command up to LTG Sanchez at CJTF-7 for publishing conflicting safety guidance regarding the M-16. I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a critical member of an important team at Taji. May God bless you and keep you."

"I want to send out my deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Army Spc. Rasheed Sahib. I know what it feels like to lose a love one in such a tragic way that one cannot explain. I, too, have lost a very dear friend and cousin of mine. His name is Lance Corporal William W. White. It's ironic that William, Rasheed, and myself lived and grew up in the neighorhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn. Though I've never met Rasheed, I can imagine and experience the magnitude of hurt, loss, and grief it costs us daily. But this is part of life. We as God's children encounters ourselves through phases that are good and bad, happy and sad, and romantic and tragical. We as God's children have to live for every moment that counts in our lives and know that each minute are precious as we reach to a new stage in life. Following these example can only lead us to being strong and asking God to give us guidance, prosperity, protection and strength as we continue to precede in our lives. I know that in my heart Rasheed will always be remembered and never forgotten as both Rasheed and Lance Cpl. White found it in their hearts to serve their country with dignity, pride, and love. If you feel the need to contact me, I can be reach at kensleyccharles@hotmail.com"

"In Loving Memory..Its been a year..

At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
Rest in Peace Dear Soldier! We will NEVER FORGET!!"

"My husband (Spc. Taj Body) and Spc. Sahib were best friends. They were both stationed in Iraq together and trust me as hard as this is to say it was and accident. We have all had problems coping with this tradegy, to most of us it still feels like a bad dream. My heart will always go out to his family and friends. Sahib's gentle heart, big smile and comforting presence will always remain in our hearts. So please let's all take a moment to bow our heads and say a prayer in rememberance of Sahib and for anyone else who has lost a loved one and for the troops who are still fighting for our country.
MAY THE LORD BE WITH US ALL!"
