"Ricky
I thought about you at church Sunday. I think about you all the time and still miss you so much. Even though we were only together for a short period of time I still
loved you so much. I still have the pictures of you and letters and still find myself reading them now and then. You will always be apart of my life. I miss you
so much Ricky!"

"I live my life day by day,
Not knowing if I will die only God can say.
I have no choice but to stand tall and strong,
As long as I fight for the right and not the wrong,

I live in the land of the free,
So don't be blind open your eyes and see,
What we soldiers do for you so you can live the way you want,

I hate that it's so hard to be away from the people you love,
But yet my faith is still with the man above,

I wake up with my head up high,
Hoping that my days will just pass by,
Not hoping on how long this deployment will be,
But hoping my daughter will remember me,

I pray that my family stays strong,
And that when I get home the days could feel so long,
I stand up high with my chest popped out,
Living my life without a doubt,

Of all the choices I've made in the past,
Praying to God this war wont last,
Just so we all can go home to the people, who mean so much,
Because sometimes we wish we can just have one touch,
Of the person waiting back in the rear,

Living life with pride and not with fear,
I fight so you all can live happy with a lot of choices,
And not be shut down from your voices,
You get to live and even vote,

To choose the leader for the land we fight on foot, planes, and even a boat,
So show your respects for the ones who don't know if they would live another day,

And keep us in your minds and start to pray,
Guaranteed god would listen any way,
I know he has it destine for us to go or stay,
But you never know he might just change his mind and let me lay next to my girl,

And let me live the rest of my life.
It hurts to leave my family alone,
So I can be the United States back bone,
We all can't wait to go home and get of that airplane,

And see our family and leave the pain,
Feeling complete from my heart once more,
With my family knowing I served an honored corp,
So I am a soldier telling you to remember and never forget,
The people who fight with no regret.- the voice form his little sister"

"TO A SILENT HERO AND HIS FAMILY!

I AM SSGT JACQUEZ WITH THE U.S. MARINES. I WAS WITH ROSAS ON THE TRAGIC DAY A COWARD IRAQI SET OFF AN IED, TAKING HIS LIFE, AND SHATTERING THE LIVES OF HIS FAMILY. I RAN TO THE AID OF THE 6 SOLDIERS ON THAT VEHICLE, SAVING THE LIVES OF 2 WOUNDED; ROSAS HAD LEFT US ON IMPACT!
THERE IS NOT ONE DAY THAT PASSES BY, THAT I DON'T THANK GOD FOR MEN LIKE YOU. NOT ONE DAY PASSES BY THAT I DON'T THINK OF THAT TRAGIC DAY. IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY HEART REMEMBERING HOLDING YOU ON MY ARMS AS I LOADED YOU ON THE HELICOPTER... HOPING YOU WOULD TAKE AT LEAST ONE MORE BREATH.

IF ONLY WE HAD GONE A DIFFERENT ROUTE; IF IT HAD ME INSTEAD OF YOU.

I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, AND I REMEMBER YOU WITH HONOR.

"I knew Ricky not in person but through email. He emailed me everyday and even called me when he could. He told me all about his baby he was about to have and about his friend who was having his child. He never once told me that he was involved with this girl. Until I red the paper. For months he would tell me he loved me and even asked me to be his girlfriend, I grately excepted. Now I am missing him more and more each day. I know alot about your family just from talking to him on the phone. I just would like his family expecially his mom and dad to know that I am truley sorry for your loss, and that I loved your son with all of my heart! He kept telling me everyday that we talked, that he was coming home to not only see his baby for the first time, but to see me for his first time. All we had of eachother were letters and pictures and our love!"
Michelle Medina of St. Johns, MI. 48879

"I send my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Richard Rosas. I too lost someone very close to me in Iraq and I feel so bad for what you're going through. My sister's husband was killed in Iraq on Christmas Eve 2003, leaving behind my sister and my only nephew. We're so blessed to still have our nephew; he has so much of his father in him! After reading several of the tribute messages on this page, I see that the same is true for you. I graduated from St. Louis in '98. I didn't know Richard, but if anyone in your family ever needs someone to talk to that's went through the same unfortunate circumstances, please feel free to write me at nikki.smith@cmich.edu. My heart goes out to you.

God bless the families of all of our brave soldiers. ("It is far better to die on our feet than to live forever on our knees." - Franklin D. Roosevelt)"

There are a few of us here in 3/4 that went to AIT at Fort Bliss with Rosas. He was by far the best battle buddy we had in AIT. He was a purely respectful, well-rounded, and squared away man.
