"23 de Enero del 2016

It has been eleven years since you left us and it hurts no less than the first day I said good bye to you and left your soul rest in peace. A part of your heart remains inside me, and a part of my heart left along with you, now I got that and allows me to accept your depart but doesn't lower my sadness and grief. Only thinking of how big you were and seeing how beautiful your offsprings are I am capable of deal with this void, this emtpyness. God bless you always and give you an eternal peace next to my mom, please take care both of you guys werever you are, in heaven I bet .

My greatest love to you two always.

Tio Carlos Dios te bendiga siempre junto a mi Madre.

Hoy y siempre recordandote.

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"To the family of Jose Carlos...

May I offer my family's best wishes to yours on this Easter Sunday. Jose was a good man, and I liked him a lot.

I served with him on his last deployment with the AVCRAD. I don't think you could find a SINGLE person in our unit that didn't really like him. He was just a solid, quality guy. I don't need to use a bunch of words to describe him..."good guy" pretty much sums it up...and anyone who knew him would understand that.

I am a father too, and it tore at my heart that he would be leaving his young children behind when he was so suddenly called on his unexpected journey to live with Our Father...his children have often been in our thoughts and prayers.

But WE don't decide when or how these moments will come in our lives. That decision is made somewhere else in the Universe...and I am still trying to truly understand that. The experience of losing him so suddenly was hard on all of us, and all of us who were there that day will never forget it...so long as we shall live.

Thank you for sharing him with us...it was time well spent, and we are all better for having known him.

There are certain people in life that you just KNOW have gone on to a 'better' place...and Jose is definitely one of them."

"1/23/2008

Tony of Tijuana, Mexico

"Tio Carlos: It has been sooooo difficult since you have gone and joined mis abuelitos and tios in heaven. Nothing is the same any more. It seems like time has stood still and everyone is so distant from one another. You were the glue that would keep us together. I admired and looked up to you and I loved the way you would conduct yourself. Out of all of us YOU accomplished your dreams you made it happend with out any hessitation and thats what I miss and loved about you how strong and dedicated you were. How you would get things done. It hurts all the time when I see your boys because I was soooo used to seeing you always tending to their every needs. I know that those 3 boys will grow up to become great men just like you tio. I miss you like crazy especially my mother. The day you died another piece of her went right with you. Since your death she has not been the same, in fact no one has. If only there was a way to bring you back I would do it but its sad to say that we have to wait until its my time to rejoin you all in heaven. I am so very honored and grateful and thankful for having such an amazing wonderful great man as your self to be my Uncle that I got to know you on a personal level and to be able to say Jose Carlos Rangel was my uncle and he never hesitated to serve and protect his country and although he loved and protected USA he NEVER not once forgot where he came from and that was MEXICO. You taught me to be proud and to love both countries and to make them both apart of me. I love you tio and may you and ALL our loved ones who are up there with you rest in paradise ALWAYS! Until we meet again....MISSING YOU LIKE CRAZY! Not a day goes by that you don't cross my mind =("
Andrea Rangel Garcia, Cynthia & Jose III Martinez of Stockton, CA/USA

Tu presencia estara siempre conmigo."
