"Dear friends and Family of Sgt Ramirez,

I had the honor to serve next to Chris in Fort Riley and as well as Iraq. He was the closest friend that I had there. We worked the jail in Iraq together and spent many hours talking about home and family. Im sorry it has taken me so many years to reach out but just know that he will forever be remembered. I always think about him and hope that his family is well."

"Although it has been many years since I have since served with Chris in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, not a year goes by the date 4-14 goes by without his remembrance. I served with Chris in Germany in D Co 1/7 Infantry. I did get to see Chris once again while he was stationed at Fort Benning GA. It was around 1998 or so when I went to Benning on temporary duty. It was always great to be around Chris, from the times we hung around together in Germany, to the great trip we had in Spain (even though they didn't understand his Spanish there, which was actually hilarious actually) upon our return from the Gulf War. He will always be remembered as a true hero. God Bless Chris and Rest in Peace."
Jimmy Lajoie of Fort Benning, GA

"Thinking of Chris today, as I have many, many times since hearing the news. We were roommates in Aschaffenburg, Germany, 3rd Platoon, D Co. 1/7 Infantry. We served together in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and spent an enormous amount of our free time hanging out and having GREAT times! He was - and IS - a good friend, a brother, and a hero not only to me, but his country, and the people of Iraq as well. We each owe him a debt which we can never fully repay. God bless Chris, all of his family, and the many, many people affected by his loss. Rest in peace, brother - I'll see you on the other side."

"To the family of Chris, He was a brother in arms, a drinking buddy, a friend. He is sorely missed by his fellow servicemembers. He kept up our spirits during the worst of times. He at times charged and pushed foward when others wouldn't. He helped us look through the sand and helped us think of a better tomorrow. Still today, I have him in my heart and in my prayers, and I know that he moved on to a better place. God bless you Chris, and the Ramirez Family my condolences are with you. May God bless you as well.

I drank the other beer for my fellow squad leader, we were in Korea, I knew him for over a year, I was also in Iraq while he was there, different places, same dreams, to make this place better for others, not ourselves. It is very hard for me to write this without tearing up, I wish it could have been me instead of him, I wish I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE,,, HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING AND TAKING CARE OF OTHERS FIRST BEFORE HIMSELF.... "23 Feb 2009

Sgt Ramirez,
I was his XO during this time ………he was my homeboy from Texas. You are a very smart man when it comes down to being a Infantry man. I never saw him get upset while in uniform. I remember one of the Joes'(Rank of E-1 up to E-4) cut his hair the day before that fatal day. He came in to the TOC (Tactical Operation Center) and said “XO, can you fix this,” He took his PC off and I saw that Ricci or Mox, or one of those Joes did a number on his hair. 1SG Robert French said “Fix his hair now, it looked like SGT Ram had a Beret on his head” (talking about his hair cut). This was the first time and the last time I saw him laugh so hard that he cried. SGT Ram, my Texas brother you are gone, but never, never, never… forgotten. Take care, and in closing, when I see a border patrol agent job posting or an agent, I think about you.

V/R"

"Hey bro, just here at home thinking of you. Remembering the good times we had like our last christmas together in 2003 when we asked what you wanted for x-mas dinner and you said Turkey, ham, tamales (from Tia Yolanda) and beer. Guess what you got it. Mom gave me back the jacket that i gave you for x-mas that year. So now i have two since they were matching jackets just like old times (twins). Ha Ha funny. It was great having you for the little time the spirits gave us. May you rest in peace my brother, my HERO. I try and call MOM in Rockford Illinois at least once a week. She really misses you but, so does the rest of the family. It is an honor being your brother. Keep looking out for me from the spirit world my brother because i know you are with me always. ***** I would like to get in contact with any one who was with my brother in his last days in Iraq. "11/13/2007. Yesterday I just found out Chris was killed in Iraq. I had the privilege of serving with Chris for two years with 2nd Battalion 18th Infantry Regiment, 3rd BDE 24th Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia. Chris was a good friend of mine at Fort Benning; however, we lost touch after I got out of the Army. Chris was a great person and I have many great memories and stories of the fun times Chris and the rest of our buddies had while stationed together. Chris, it was an honor and a privilege to have known you and you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace my brother."
Luis Villalobos of Rancho Cucamonga, CA

"To the Ramirez family... I am so sorry for your loss. I have just learned Chris made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I served with Ramirez in A Co 2-18, INF, 3-24ID in 1992-1993 at Kelley Hill, Ft Benning, but I have not spoken to him since I was discharged in Dec 1993... I had the privilege, or should I say adventure, of sharing a room with him for about a year. I have so many memories of Ramirez, he bought me my first German beer, but what I'll remember most was his love of life, he was always upbeat, and never let anything stop him. Whether it was an NCO giving him a hard time, a tough morning PT run, roadmarch, or a long field exercise... Ramirez always kept trucking and always made me laugh. I am proud to say he was my friend, and proud to see he served his country so well. I will never forget my buddy."
