"SSG Nelom was unlike any NCO I ever met. He went above and beyond for me and my friends at Fort Hood, helping us on his own time doing things that he would never get credit for he only did it because he was one of the coolest guys and the nicest guy ever. I still tell stories about our time during NTC at Fort Irwin CA. I wish I ran into him at camp anaconda, even though I haven't seen him in years I kept feeling like I was going to run into him, not even knowing if he was still in the army. I kept on running into guys from the old 96 trans days and I always asked about him until I heard the terrible news. i just hate knowing hes not around."
Tony Sanderlin of Cape Coral FL

"To the Nelom family. I had the honor of working alongside SSG Nelom. He always had a kind word and a positive outlook to share with us. He said to me " Take pride in what you do and if you have a job to do always do it right and to standard". It was tough to lose him after talking to him right before roll out for his mission. SSG Nelom will never be forgotten in our hearts or minds."

"To the Family of SSgt. Regilio Nelom, My deepest symapthys and condolences go out to you and your family. Though I did not know him personally, I was there that night in Iraq. The blast that took your husband happened only feet away from me. Your husbands sacrifice allowed me to come home and meet my daughter, and for that I am forever in his debt. Believe me when I say that myself and my colleagues did everything we could to save his life. I feel compelled to leave this message to you in your time of grief. Please take comfort in the fact he gave his life so that the two other people in his truck and the three in ours could live and remeber his sacrifice. Again my deepest condolences and thank you."
A Grateful Marine of Spokane, Wa
