"Jerry Mills

Six years ago today on Dec. 8, 2005. I buried my only son. it was a very cold and bitter day. After my son was killed it took 9 days for them to get his body home. That gave me a lot of time to think and to pray. As a Christian man I believe it is my responsibility to make sure my family knows the lord. And I just had to know if he was in was in heaven. and I lay in bed praying. I just had to know. I prayed lord just give me a sign that my son was in heaven with you. And then at his service a bald eagle appeared in the sky above his service. I did not see the eagle flying but everyone that did was talking about it. Now tell me is it coincidence or a sign I believe it’s a sign
In Arkansas City, an American eagle appeared in the sky above Patriot Guard members assembled for the burial of Army Sgt. Jerry Mills. “The service had just started," Houck said. "It circled above the church for 25 to 30 minutes."

I knew you because of my sister, Deanna. I met you the night she did and then again the day you left for Iraq. I had no idea that you and her were so close until she asked me to take her to tell you bye that day you left. I drove her back home because she was crying and I told her everything would be okay since I just said good bye to husband a few weeks before then. I know now how much you really ment to her, you were the love of her life. She misses you so much. I know whenever she's going to do something important she wears the necklace you gave her. She has you with her always and when she moved to Iowa a few weeks ago she put the teddy bear that you gave her in the front seat so she knew you would be there watching her and Chloe as they drove. Thank you for keeping her safe. She misses you so much, I wish I would have known you more than just the two times we met, I know you touched my sisters heart and soul. Thank you for keeping us safe, thank you for making sure my husband got home to me and our son safe and sound. Thank you for all the volunteering you did in the army. I've heard so many great things about you. I hope some day to meet your dad, I know him and Deanna talk often, and I know it's hard for both of them but I know you're watching over and making sure they are both happy and taken care of. Thank you again, Jerry, you are very missed but you are a hero to all that you have touched. We'll see you someday, and we can do lunch on the clouds with Jesus! you're missed but we'll meet again!"

You will be missed very much. I had the pleasure of knowing you throughout HighSchool in Ark City. As a fellow soldier, and Operation Iraqi Freedom 3 veteran, I will miss you, and my other fallen comrades very very much. I think about you guys everyday, but know that you all have a special place in my heart that makes me stronger and inspires me to keep on pushing forward in order to continue on. Jerry and our countrys brave soldiers were all hereos before they made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and to better another nation's country. "To the Mills family from the Wahl family. Deeply sadden by the news of Jerry. Jerry thank you for serving our country. More importantly; for being a military brother to our son. I realize you two had not known one another. Still military brothers watch over one another. That had been a comfort to me. Jerry, you have not died in VAIN! You are an American hero! An you have serve your community, county, state and country. Unselfishly, risking everything for us all. An I greatly, appreciate your scarifice. Not many American that are willing to serve. The very least your community can do to honour you. Is name a street in honour of you service. Since 911, you helped fight off terrorism. Making American alot safer. An you have given the people of Iraq HOPE! To one day live in peace. You are someone's someone and you are someone to the Wahl family. An hopefully; ever American feels that way.
