25, of Salem, Massachusetts.
Mejia died in Marez, Iraq, of non-combat related causes. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Died on May 31, 2006.

"I remember first getting the Delta Troop the unit was just standing up I was the new NBC & NCO and the NCO room was not set up yet Benjamin was the first person to help me set up this room from that moment on he was one of my best and closest friends I remember I was having a bad day one day and he took me over to the computer and show me this funny video on YouTube I laughed for days after that he was just that kind of person that wouldn't leave you alone until you had a smile on your face my heart is heavy until this day over his passing Benjamin you always be in my heart you'll always be my friend"
