"To Michael and his family,

I had the great pleasure of meeting him when he first got to Germany and was fortunate to meet his (with him ) at the airport when she got here. I really would like to say that Michael was an "Outstanding Soldier" for the short time that he was in Alpha Battery, 1-6 FA. Although the other soldiers in the unit did not get to meet him, he will always be remembered as a "Alpha Gator" and a true hero to all of us. Our deepest sincerity go out to his wife Sarah and thier little Chihuahua and the rest of his family. May God Bless you all....God's Speed"

"Para la familia de Michael Martinez le ofresco mis oraciones, mi esperanza que esten bien y mi ciertud que se encuentra en la Gloria de Dios. Les ofresco estas humildes ofrendas como un hijo de Juana Diaz, un hermano en Cristo y hermano soldado. Yo, 29, servi al principio de la guerra y me encuentro ahora en Alemania. Es un honor servir el mismo proposito con un soldado de tan gran corazon.

"SPC Martinez was one of my soldiers for a long time and he left Fort Campbell, such a short time ago. We here in "Comanche" battery will miss him just the same as if he was still with us. Martinez was always filled with jokes and laughter. I don't know how many days he brought a smile to my face when I was down. As far as I am concerned, he still is in our battery. My deepest respects to his family and friends. Martinez, ride that skateboard up there and you have other "Comanche" battery brothers with you to keep you company. I love you brother, I'll miss you, and I'll see you on the "High Ground"."
