"I first met Javier "Cheech" Marin when he first came to A Co, 2-2 IN, as a Private. He became my assistant gunner and we grew close over the years. Cheech would come over to the house to hang out or eat dinner or watch the Super Bowl. He was a stellar soldier, a loyal friend, and a man I would trust my life with. Cheech was one of the best friends that I ever had and I will always miss him. Rest in peace, bro."
