"Dear Marcy,

Your son has not been forgotten. I would like to thank you for your sacrifice which contributes to insuring my freedom. The sacrifice your son made.. can never ever be properly thanked. I could never have the courage it takes to sign up the way your son did and as a mother I would be so frightened if one of my children made that decision. I am so proud of your child for having that courage and pride in his country. Please know that mothers everywhere cry for your loss and are forever grateful for what he gave for us."
Liz of Las Vegas, NV

"Caleb was a wonderful young man, son and brother - loved by all his relatives and loyal to his friends, including our own family. The CNN video was very emotional for us but also beautifully done. Our family has his parents and all of Caleb's family in our thoughts and prayers. This must have been a difficult day for them watching this touching memorial to such a brave American soldier. We still love and miss you buddy!"
Karen Lynch of Galesburg, Illinois

"I saw the segment with PFC Lufkin on CNN, my heart broke when I read the caption stating that he had passed away. I was a medic in the Army, watching the Combat Support Hospital try to save all of the soldiers that come through in Iraq brought back a lot of memories, good and bad. My heart goes out to Caleb's family for your loss, and to all of the family's of our Fallen Heroes. We know first hand that Freedom doesn't come free. God Bless."
Tracey of Muscatine, Iowa

"As every day, we are thinking about you and your family."

"It has been just over a year since PFC Lufkin was wounded and treated for his injuries. Tomorrow, May 25, will mark the one-year anniversary of his death. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. I am convinced that Caleb's spirit lives and I know that the love his family and freinds share with him will endure forever! This young man has touched so many lives in incredible ways, including mine! I never met PFC Lufkin, but I am sure that if I had, I would have like him and admired him. I will light a candle and say a special prayer for this courageous and upstanding young man. And on this Memorial Day, as on each Memorial Day, I will pause and remember the sacrifice that people like Caleb - and his family - make for our freedom. God bless you Caleb, and God bless his family - with the reassurance that your love for him and connection with him are never-ending."

"I too watched the special on CNN and was so amazed at how the staff was so confident he would make it and how he kept saying dont let me die... only to find out that weeks later, he did not survive. It just breaks my heart to think about that. I hope he is resting in eternal peace."
