"Simeon,
My name is Billika. I have never met you but I have met your children. It is 2012 and the first time I met your daughter was at school (I was in uniform)and she said, "My daddy died in Iraq." We have been attached to your family since.
My daughter and her have been friends now two years. Anaya is a diva and beautiful dark skinned lady. She loves sports and quite good at all of them. Thank you for blessing us with her.
Your son is quite the image of you: strong-willed, handsome, and witty. My son and him are the best of friends too. I smile and slug him in the arm every time I see him. Thank you for blessing us with him.
Your memory is carried on forever with a boy and girl that will likely become great athletes. They still talk about you often with great love. Be proud, God has favored them through your life."

"Tara,
My name is Leonard Santiago and I went to MSU with you and Simeon. I knew Simeon from the EOF program in 1997 and we were good friends. There was a time where Sim and I lost track of our friendship because we were busy with our own lives, but we remained friends.

I still remember the last time I spoke with Sim. He had told me that he was joining the Army to help pay for school and to take care of you and his family. Simeon's dedication and focus that day impressed me and inspired me to get my life together.

Everytime I think that I am having a hard time or a bad day, I think of Simeon and his love of life and his dedication to taking care of you and your children. Simeon always knew how to have a good time and shared that with others. I keep Simeon's obituary displayed in a frame in my house and I have told his story to countless people.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray
for you and your children. If there is ever anything that I can help you with, please e-mail me at santiagol3133@hotmail.com.
I wish you all of the best in life.

Simeon, rest in peace brother. You are gone but never forgotten. I'll see you in Heaven one day."

"I am a soldier, who still serves and who served with Hunte, when I was in 1-13th. All I can say is that he brought nothing but, smiles to everybody's faces and is a legacy in the 1-13th family. He was a great friend, soldier and I know he loved his kids by the way he talked about them. We will forever remember him and God Bless when this "THING" is over, we will make sure he continues to get the respect he deserves. I am sorry I did not write this sooner, but I truly am sorry for the Hunte Family's loss. I will never forget."

"I met Simeon my 1st and only year in MSU...I actually became an Iota Sweetheart when he became a Brother...passing through my living room earlier this year, I passed a newspaper article sitting on the chair, the article was honoring the memory of those who passed in serving in the military. I recall it being a Sunday evening, so I was in the midst of settling in from a church service... I picked up the article just casually looking through at the different faces and names, not expecting to see Simeon's face...I kept looking not recalling if his last name was Hunte or not...so I ran upstairs to get a picture of the Simeon I knew from MSU, our freshman year...wow...as I expressed to my family, I said look, I knew him, I asked my father does it look like the same guy "I knew him"...sad in my heart I expressed it so, I carried both the article and the photo to work with me the next day, kept it on top of my desk for a little, but you know how dwelling on the bad can make a heart bitter/sad, so I decided to place it along with other items I'd like to hold onto in my desk drawer...sad to my heart that I lost a brother, a sweetheart to the heart...his smile I do recall and the sweetest person...and I call him a brother just because I never knew anything ill about him...very unique, always dressed with the stylish hats, as was the hat he wore in the 1 and only photo I have of him...oh how I do recall...SIMEON...I never walked with you in life...but a man of GOD I hope you stood with a genuine style...I was pleased to have met you...I would have hoped that the heavens opened up for you...a smile to make you smile...GOD BLESS

"ARMY SPC Hunte - You are an American hero whose ultimate sacrifice will not be forgotten. Rest well brave soldier. Thank you for your sacrifice and honorable service to this great nation. I pray that god bestows his peace and comfort upon your family. So young a life, so great a sacrifice.-------- “SOLDIER” By George L. Skypeck , RegTM All Rights Reserved (No reproduction without prior permission By Mr. Skypeck)--
I was that which others did not want to be. I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness…should I fail. I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear; and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love. I have cried, pained, and hoped…but most of all, I have lived times others would say were best forgotten at least someday I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was…
A SOLDIER

Thank you Mr. Skypeck for your beautiful words and personal permission to share."

"Dear Sim,
Its been almost a year and 9 months since you passed and my heart still aches when the reality of you not being here hits me. I still can't believe it. I send my blessings to Tara, your kids, and all of your family and friends. You are, and will always be missed; you are, and will always be loved. You are a man's man, a brother's brother and a soldier's soldier. You may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten. We will always love you. And to Tara, if you or the kids need anything that I can be assistant to, just let me know.

"To the family and friends of Simeon Hunte. A couple of days ago, I was searching in an Army surplus store for a POW/MIA bracelet. I found what I was looking for along with something that I didn't know existed. Just like the POW/MIA bracelets, there were ones that were black, with silver engraving, of KIA Army Rangers. I bought Simeon Hunte's. I looked his name up tonight, so that I could put a face with the name. Just so you know, he was a stranger to me before, but now I wear his name proudly, and I run my fingers across it daily...wrapped around my wrist...to remind me that freedom... isn't free.
God be with you.

I was heartbroken when I found out about Hunte, I couldnt believe it, and wanted to make them pay for taking him, losing Hunte gave me strength to take his death and use it to fight harder, to preserve his name and accomplish my mission and help bring everyone home alive so no one has to feel the pain like his family and friends did. Love you Hunte, like a brother. GOD BLESS I am truely sorry for the loss."

"I knew Simeon from school. We were room mates at Montclair University for a time being. I'll always remeber the first day we met. I walked into the room and I didn't see anyone in there, so I dropped off my things and as I was leaving we bumped into eachother. The look on Sim's face was classic, he thought something was going on, right away we just clicked. We laughed the whole night together about what had happend earlier in the day when we first met. He was so open to people, Sim made everyone feel comfortable and always had his hands open for friends. To have known Sim, you knew you would always have a friend. You'll always be remembered, and one day we'll record some more songs together. Love and peace you Simeon's family, he'll never be forgotten."
