Army Sgt. Irving Hernandez, Jr.

28, of New York, New York.
Hernandez died in Mosul, Iraq when he encountered enemy small arms fire during combat operations. Hernandez was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Died on July 12, 2006.

"I think of Irving often. I always wonder why we were holdovers after basic training. We were just 2 city boys him from NY me from DC just trying to do something with ourselves. Oh how I wish that the year was 1998 again. I luv you dude never forgotten. Susan continue to be strong you don't have to move on just remind kid that there daddy is a hero. In basic it was Delta Dragons men are we airborne ranger infantry we breath fire we breath gas delta dragons we kick ... I remember sitting with y'all when we both were stationed in HI watching Carlos Santana video everyday. My heart was broken when I got the news."
