"Well my son your anniversary is nearing and today I had that mental breakdown again wow going to be 11 yrs on this shattered hearts that are left unprepared forever . It hasn't got easier just the numbness has become a norm . I think of you everyday . Your baby brother married now her name is Lindsey . They married October 10 ,2015 right after your 10 th year in heaven , they honored you as the best man as you walked in the church , and reception . We all missed you so . Our family missed out growing older without you with us , All still deeply saddened still . Sometimes I wonder how I made it through this till this day , living with PTSD ! The hardest disease ever to fight , the nightmares when you sleep the outburst of confusions thoughts and whys ! The demon that wants your life! The sleepless nights of insomnia or anxiety attacks , the emptiness and seclusion from people and the world . Never living a normal life , crowds of thoughts never a silent soul . Life is sure not what I thought it should or would be . But reality it is. Today I sat and just cried profusely held the pillow from Iraq you last payed your head on and a picture of you . Looking at your baby pictures . You so handsome I found love when I found someone I loved more than myself it was you and your brother Naythen. Faith in God will find us again on the other side , called heaven . Just want you to know we the world will never forget you or any fallen Heros !! Please watch over us my son , my angel, my hero, my life ! Till we meet again my baby boy , mommie"

"Sept.2010.Today I finally read all the messages written to my Grandson Nicholas J.Sortor-Greer,what a blessing from each of you. I thank everyone who took time to write and also for the person who made this site!!It has taken me this long to even look up this site because of the hurt. He was killed in 2005 in Irag by an enemy bullet,I just didn't have the heart to write before this. I have seven children, twenty-one grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren so far. Nicholas is the first of my many immediate family, except for my mom, dad, sisters and brothers that I have lossed in my life, besides losing our Nick. Besides the tragic loss of our Nick,Our God,has been such a blessing to us all and we should give him a great big Thank YOU for all the blessings HE has done me and my family.HE has given us health and taken such good care of each of us!! To have been married for all most fifty years and to have all our children, grandchildren and greats, and to be in pretty good health, alive, and safe, can only be claimed as a blessing from God himself!!To go on with the rest of my story, they say it's not like losing one of your children, when you lose a grandchild, this I couldn't say as I've not lossed a child yet, this is what my daughter keeps telling me,(your mama Nick) but I want you to know we, your Grandma and Grandpa, still miss you very much, we will love you forever and ever and honor your name in our thoughts, prayers and minds, and keep you safe in our hearts, No one will ever take that away from us,"YOU ARE OUR HERO"as long as life lasts here on earth. We cherish your smiling face in the pictures we have of you and if people tell you the hurt gets softer in your heart they are very wrong. Thank you for being one of my best friends and for all the love you gave us,I know that never stops either!! Thank you for giving your life so that America can enjoy the freedom you helped to preserve along with all the rest of the servicepeople who served, are now serving and will serve in the future so we that we can keep our freedom in this country. You have probally met some of our relatives in Heaven who also served our country in the past,so say Hello to them for us,and all the vets up there.Thank you for sending the snowflake to me and the Eagles that keep flying in the air up here around me reminding me of you, that we talked so much about when you were little, that's just our secret between us though huh??? God Bless You my Sweetie and keep you safe until we are together again in Heaven, say hello to Our GOD for us and ask him keep an eye on all of us from up there please. I want to express all my condolences to anyone who has lost a love one, whether it was a vet.or just someone you loved. This Grandma knows the hurt, she sends her love to you all because the hurt still stays in your heart whether it was your child, husband, loved one, relative,or a friend this we know don't we?..... I hope God gives you some relief and keeps you in the soft palm of his hand and gives you his love, God bless you....."

"Nick, I sincerely miss you. I think about you and reflect on the 'meeting of the brains' as Cross called it, when we would talk about technology or language or music. I wish that we could have had more time, because there was so much that we all could have learned from you; but it was your time to slip into the wind. I know that you have been watching over me and I'll meet up with you eventually. Until then stay with our brothers-in-arms and lend them your vigilance. I love you brother."

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,700 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

I feel your loss more then anyone. Losing a child is the worst thing in life. it has been almost 3 years that I lost my husband and we still miss him terrible.
People always say it gets better as time goes on and time will heal all wounds. It does not!

I hope to meet you in Jun/July!
I am very proud of your son and my husband did!"
