"I knew Jesus from Basic Training! We slept next to each other inside the bay. I went to Korea with him and became friends with him as well as the other mortar men of the battalion. When we went off to Iraq we kinda got alittle sperated but relocated as we got to Ramadi! He was a great soldier and a better friend. It was an honor fighting with him. My best wishes and prays are with the family of Jesus Fonseca. He will always be remembered by me with a braclet on my arm!!"

"I don’t believe that we understand all that you gave, or how your sacrifice will affect the future for our sons or daughters. I believe you confronted the evil that has enslaved mankind throughout history, the same evil that many American soldiers have confronted in many battles.

I will teach my son and daughter of your sacrifice and your heroism.

"I work at SouthCare Funeral Home and wanted to say that I was very humbled and priveleged to be a part of the Fonseca funeral service today. It was truly one I will always remember. The military has had a profound effect on my life, as my parents got married forty years ago after meeting one another just three weeks prior while serving in the military. They are still married today. I have great respect for the individuals who choose the armed forces for their life's work and if I weren't too old myself, I would join today. It has always been a regret of mine. The military gave my family countless opportunities and afforded my parents the ability to do so much. We lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1979-1983 and I can appreciate the sacrifices Mr. Fonseca made in so many ways. I also want to say that the Fonseca family is one that I will never forget. Their loss is overwhelming and I am saddened that they are having to deal with this tragedy. I know that walking with the families I serve through their grief helps and I was honored especially today to be able to do that. Thank you, Mr. Fonseca, for your service to America and also unfortuately, allowing me to serve your heartbroken family."

"My deepest condolences to the Fonseca family and all those affected by this loss. I went to school with Jesus and got to know him fairly well. He was well-liked by everybody, and honestly the nicest person you could ever hope to meet. He always had a certain determination about him, and I greatly admired him. I always knew he'd be a hero. Rest in peace, friend."

"Cada vez que veo una imagen de un nino o de un anciano en Iraq tengo emociones encontradas. Pienso en que habra un futuro para ellos aunque hoy dia sufren las incoherencias del ser humano. Jesus Fonseca conocia el riesgo de estar en Iraq, pero tambien pudo conocer lo que su aportacion en ese pais haria en el futuro... Me siento muy orgulloso de saber que Jesus Fonseca hizo una diferencia en la vida de muchos iraquies"
