"Thank you to all who have written and sent condolences.I promise you that your well wishes are recieved warmly. I am the mother of Darryl Thomas Dent. I have not spoken before now because I could not.It has been five years,
eleven months,twelve days,twelve hours, and fifty-six minutes and I am still thinking of you son.My last born child full of love and compassion. You always gave,of yourself, your sustenance, your faith,even your life. I know you did it because you cared. many thank you for your sacrifice.Some live because you died. How I ache to touch you again, to look at your face again, to hear you speak and laugh and share your wisdom, as you were a life in my womb you are now the life of my heart. I am being the mother, the woman, the queen you treated me like when you were here.I continue to live in the light you brought to me and live to share it with all who care to recieve it. Angelic and I spend time together, not so much talking, but sharing space with you in mind.Rest my son from your labor,Your living, Your loving and Dieing. All done so selflessly.Just saying thanks does not carry the true thought and feeling behind the words. I miss you.

I remember that day. and how I was supposed to be on that gun truck mission also. but somehow I was the one that got tasked for something else. I was a M249 Gunner with 77th Maint. you were attached to our Battalion 485CSB in Dogwood. . I know I keep jumping around in this note...since I cant find the right words. I wish it was me in your place sometimes. forgive my language bro but Hell you deserve life more than me . You gave the Ultimate Sacrifice. TTrust me you are not forgotten...everyone in my family knows about that mission you were on...and how for some odd reason I was taken off it. I am so sorry that you didnt come home to your family. But I know in this thing we all Life you have True Peace with God. I wish your Family the Best in Life for we all know they have suffered the Worst. Rest in Peace Bro. and to all the soldiers from your company ......Thank You for the Help and making Iraq safer for everyone!"

"In Loving Memory..Its been a year..8/26/04

At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
Rest in Peace Dear Soldier!!! We will NEVER FORGET!"
