"Sean, I miss you. I cannot say that I think about you constantly. I feel that a lie would not honor your memory. I will say what I remember. You were so kind. You were truly...TRULY a good man. I remember the last FRG meeting that we had before our deployment. You asked about the life insurance. Sean, you were truly a caring individual. The only thing I can do is honor your memory, because you were one of the few people in this world who deserve it. When I think about that moment today, I see a man who raised his family above himself. Every year...around this month...I think about my time in the BRT, and I can never say how much I miss it. I love you Sgt. Cataudella, and all of you. I will never forget you.

"I had the honor of knowing Sean for a short while when he was stationed here in Washington state at Fort Lewis. He used to work with me part time as a delivery driver for Godfather's pizza. In the short time we managed to forge a friendship and I always looked forward to seeing him (even though sometimes he tried to throw me in a trash can). I regret to say that we lost contact when he was transferred but he's always been in my heart. I just heard this morning that this wonderful man was killed and I have to say it's been a tough morning. My thoughts and prayers are with Sean and his family. He was a great friend, he loved his family more than anyone I've ever known. He will always be missed. 5/29/2007"

"Dear Mr & Mrs Cataudella,
I write this to you with a heavy heart. How can I even begin to put into words what I am feeling right now? We send our sons off to war knowing they are fighting for a better world for all of us. In that we take great pride. We know there is a chance they will not come back to us. How can I say thank you for raising such an unselfish, dedicated young man? My prayer is that somehow you find comfort in knowing that we share in your grief. There is a bond that is unexplainable among those who have loved ones fighting for our freedom. When one is lost we all hurt. My heart, my prayers, my arms go out to you! Sean will never be forgotten! God be with you and your family.

"I had the honor of serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom with Sean. He was a special part of the Knight Platoon, 2nd Brigade Recon Troop. He came to us from the Headquarters Platoon after we took Baqubah Airfield, and served in my Platoon until a few weeks before this tragic event. Words alone can not express my sorrow and feelings of loss for this great man and his wonderful family. I remember great times sitting around with this wonderful man talking about a son that he had not yet had a chance to meet and showing off the pictures that he had of him. I will never forget you, or the ultimate sacrafice that you and your family made for me and the rest of this great nation of ours. May god bless you Sean; a son, a husband, a father, and a Hero."

"I served with SGT Sean Cataudella in Operation Iraqi Freedom from April to July. He served honorably in a unit that led from the front and conducted nightly raids and patrols in dangerous areas of the Sunni Triangle. When his HMMWV rolled into a canal, he reached up and pulled the gunner into the vehicle. SPC Schaffer (the gunner) was revived and is alive today because of this selfless action. SGT Cataudella was subsequently pinned inside the vehicle and tragically died as a result of his injuries. It was an honor to serve in his company. He is truly a hero to this nation. I extend my prayers and deepest sympathies to Naomi and the children. He is missed by all who knew him."
CPT David J. Zinn, former commander H-10 CAV (2BRT) 4ID of Chicago, IL

"Sean was my first roommate at Fort Lewis after leaving basic training at Fort Knox. He was a good man, and good at what he did. He helped a great many people, including myself. May his family take comfort in knowing that he didn't pass in vain. He fought so that you didn't have to."
SGT Frank Downard of Ft. Lewis

"To the family of Sean Cataudella:

May it comfort you to know that he will always be remembered.
He is a true hero, and we are forever grateful for his service to our Country.
May God comfort you and keep you"
Michele Sather of Bigfork, MT. USA

"When I heard the news Sean had died, my heart broke. He was an amazing father, husband and friend. He took his lunch time to go to his daughters school to play with her at recess time. When he was home he was spending it doing things with his kids, reading to them or playing at the park. He was more then a wonderful father he was a husband to a woman just as wonderful as he. They was high school sweethearts and had the fairy tale marriage. He loved with out condition and with all his heart. The day Sean died a great man died!
Forever he will live in my memory and Forever I will be thanful for having the chance to know him.
We love you Naomi, Alex, Damon and Kai!
