"R of Lakewood--I knew Ames. Thanks for taking away the fact that he drove our squad through multiple ambushes. He could've froze, causing every one of us to die, but he didn't. Despite his personal troubles, he stuck with us. In fact, we were a few weeks away from coming home. He did his part, you can't take that from him."
Jerry Abriam - Veteran

"Only a few of us knew you. Only a few of us will tell others that your non combat related death was a suicide. You are not a hero and your actions reflect poorly on us all."
R of Lakewood, wa

"I may not have gotten the chance to meet you but I have heard great things about you. I wish I could have gotten the chance to get to know you. Even though we have never met or anything. I still miss you. You're still my step brother & always will be. I love you. Don't you worry I'm taking care of krystal the best as I can. It may not seem like much but it's still something. I'm trying my hardest to be the best little sister that I can be. I try to make sure she's okay. I love & miss you. One day we will meet."

"To the family and friends of SPC Ames. He was always the happy kind. excited to go on every patrol, anxious to return. As we sat in the guard towers alone for hours on end, he spoke of his family, dreams, and aspirations. He must have read a thousand books, for that's all there was to do. He tried to get me to read books as well, and i did, but watching him read 700 pages in one day caused my interest to fade. I will never forget the day we lost him, i'll never forget the day when i faced the fact that i would lose my soldier. Life lives on and so does his memory, in all of us. "You're in good hands now dear friend, i'll see you there one day.""
SGT ABRIAM, JERRY M. of C CO. 3-21 INF. 1ST PLT 3RD SQD WASHINGTON
