Army Master Sgt. Edwin A. Matoscolon

42, of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico.
Matoscolon died in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when the CH-47 helicopter he was on crashed. He was assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Died on April 6, 2005.

"I served with MSG Matos. We were in the 25th INF DIV Artillery Schofield Barracks Hawaii. He died along with a female MSG who was our Mess NCO. We were in Afghanistan when their helicopter went down. They said it "simply" crashed but we think it was shot down. I wish the Army would reopen the investigation. Sad loss for the Army that day."

"I met Sgt Matos in 1992. He was the first motor sgt that I ever worked for. As an 18 year old away from home for the first time, he was like a father to me. He looked out for me and fellow soldiers often. I have many fond memories of my time with him with the 782 at Ft Bragg. He is certainly missed."
